The only point of the like button was to show if posters were interested in the content of the post that they liked.

I guess we all get caught up in the personalities of the board and we've probably all, at some stage, "liked "a post that was derogatory towards a poster we weren't fond of.

I believe the system would work better if the "likes" were not accumulated in a point scoring fashion.

Anyone who looks at the "like" button as some sort of popularity thing needs their head read.

It is a practical and often useful function for recognising how much agreement there is with particular sides of a debate. It is also a bit of fun for recognising a clever or funny call. I'm noticing its absence.

Very true. I will occasionally scroll through a thread and if its not grabbing my interest just look for the "liked" posts to see what got other people's interest.

Not to mention the fact that he seems to have forgotten that he had not been averse to using the "like" button himself (particularly when someone took his side in an argument).

If it's there I may use it, if not I couldn't care less.

If people want to 'point score' what is the issue? We all do it. Even your good self.

Some people even like their own posts to inflate thier score.

I need to know if i'm funny or just sad.

Don't worry, you're funny... in a sad kind of a way. ;-)

If there was a particularly long post I would often scroll down to see how many "likes" it received before reading it as some sort of gauge to figure out if it was worth my time reading.

The system worked in many ways, is it coming back?

You must be into group think.

No, I'm into not reading large bits of text that have no substance.

Are you new to this forum, I've never noticed you before.

It's a good and quick way of appreciating other posters contributions. Whether they be about training, matches, witty remarks etc..

From a personal perspective, its hardly ego inflating but still nice to know you're input is recognised.

If we don't have a like button anymore, can we at least take up my suggestion of posters getting theme music?
I've got one already lined up for you Biff:

Ha! I did the exact same thing.

Without the Like button, all my cheap gags are worthless.

I'm just glad it's because of a technical issue and not because of a facebook lawsuit.

I guess no like button means more posts on here (albeit shorter ones) and we can look at posts more objectively.

I'd like to see it return though. Maybe next week

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
