Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'm 110% confident that in his first 5 or so games and most there after in his debut year he played forward pocket/half forward with minimal time at all.

I remember him a couple of years later then starting on a wing but that didn't last long. I also remember him doing time tagging Cyril in the midfield one day.

This year he played back.

All in all I think most people realise that Jetta, with his tackling skills and decent ability in close is more of a midfield player than either end of the ground deep. Doesn't have the deadly speed you need as a small forward or small defender. Then again I don't see him as much of a half back with that lack of size and inability to take bigger opponents not to mention he doesn't get enough of the ball.

His best ever game was as a high half forward in a game at Darwin where he got 20 odd touches and 3 goals I believe.

Who knows, who cares really.

2009 when I was living in Melbourne I basically went to all the Melbourne games and he was defiantly playing as a forward pocket. 2010 he only played 6 games and again was playing mostly Half forward.

According to Demonland, Taggert is a serious talent unfairly dismissed, and Nicholson both the luckiest and worst player on an AFL list. The hyperbole and unfoundedly speculative comment on here is just WOW!

It's almost as if people were submitting opinions to an online forum!

Nicho can run like a kelpie but can't kick. In a negative tagging role he might become a valued player.

sometimes players get delisted or stay based on where they do or don't fit.

Axed Magner looking for answers

Jimmy has waited a total of 2 days before tipping the bucket on us. Seems pretty indicative of the club back then to be honest. When someone (won't name him) tells me that Neeld was a great success because he delisted a crap load of players and 'smashed' cliques, I tell him that that theory might have made sense if Neeld had any clue as to what he was doing. If this article is true (Jim is probably pretty peed off and might be speaking before thinking), it seems pretty indicative of the MFC 2012-13. No-one on the same page and as PJ said, a lot of inexperienced blokes in their jobs with little senior support.
But to get back to the present, it seems a little unfair on Roos and the MFC. Wasn't he saying that he didn't have a bad word about the MFC but today he is saying he won't miss the place? (Someone might be able to clarify). And didn't Roos sit down with him and explain to him face to face (though it was at Magner's request) that he wasn't part of the club's plans going forward?

It was sad to read about Magner and his frustrations about getting dropped/not played/played out of position and now being delisted. Certainly shows the other side of the AFL.

Jimmy wants an answer but it sounds like he got the answer he didn't want. He was saying earlier that there was increased competition for gigs in the midfield now and that is probably why he was squeezed out.

Look, he has every right to be pizzed off about what happened in 2013. I am also of the opinion that in the past, we have treated our players like crap. I would like to hear another point of view as to how the news was broken to Jim. It sounds like by his own admission that Roos sat down with him one to one and told him the truth. It's better than what Junior got in 2010!

Unless you were actually sitting next to Junior, you have no idea what he got, it is just conjecture, what do you expect of Magner, spoke to him quite a few times, large ego, that has had a kicking.........just suck it up........and it was Jon Ralph doing the reporting

I understand the frustration Magner has, being played as a defensive forward when the club was crying out for midfielders who could get the ball. I know a lot of posters on here were frustrated. Yes the guy had flaws in his game but he probably was treated harshly, not on his own there.

The club was in pretty bad shape and hopefully that is on the improve now, unfortunately for Jimmy he's one of the casualties. He gave it his best shot but sometimes that's not enough, luck and timing always play a part.

His 2009 stats certainly suggest that he was playing forward:

Where did this argument begin?

No idea. Someone was prattling on about him playing as a midfielder. And whilst a lot of us recognise Jetta might be a midfielder the reality is he's never played there for a long period.

The MFC has clearly been a dysfunctional work place for a long time, but for Magner to come out and [censored] all over the only club that gave him a chance, I think that's a bit rich. He obviously knows it's all over. Go out gracefully. It's not a great way to leave the game.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
