Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

AFL NATIONAL DRAFT - Pick 9

Really? I think he's no chance to go that early.Agree that either Lennon or Freeman are the way to go, although I wouldn't be disappointed with Kolodjasnij.I can imagine Roos wanting him as a Malceski-like driver off the HBF and wing.Lennon I see as being a bit like Steve Johnson. Will play high HFF for a few years before be can move into the middle.Very smart player though. Plays the angles well and always looking ahead a couple of steps. Fantastic kick.

Yep, I reckon he'll be snapped up before West Coast's pick. It's just a feeling.

My other prediction is that Josh Kelly will slide.

Freeman finished top 10 in both 3k and beep test.

That is good news for Collingwood if they grab him with pick #6!

The 3 we are looking at are Freeman, KK and Lennon. Won't be disappointed with any of them!

Someone mentioned Freeman is now 185cm, but I'm unsure what information they're using, as elsewhere he's listed at 181/182.

It would appear we'll end up with either Freeman or Lennon.

Yes, I said that and he is.

If Kelly's going to slide, you'd have to think that Aish will as well, no?

Based on them both being very slight.

I think Kelly will actually be able to have more impact earlier on than Aish, and both are very classy.

Sheed just seems a bit slow to me, and while he got the footy a lot, he seems to just play the percentages, kicking to the top of the square, etc.

I want guys that can find a target no one else can even see, for a pick that high.

I also don't think Sheed wins as much contested footy as his reputation would imply.

Still a good player and worthy of a top 15 pick.

From a quick look at that footage.

Freeman won plenty of contested footy and is clean ball-handler - yes his kicking looks a bit dodgy. His ability to run with the ball is very impressive.

Lennon looks more like a flanker than a mid to me..

Kolo and Bonto aren't mids.

Dunstan looks good, maybe a little slow but good contested, clean and a very nice kick.

Salem has some mid attributes.

Freeman for me.

my prediciton

1 GWS - Tom Boyd

2 GWS - Josh Kelly

3 St. Kilda -Matt Scharenberg

4 Western Bulldogs - Jack Billings

5 Gold Coast - James Aish

6 Collingwood - Nathan Freeman

7 Brisbane - Kade Koldashnij

9 North -Luke McDonald

Would leave us to snap up whoever we prefer out of Crouch, Bontempelli, Sheed, Lennon and Salem. Or someone else....

1 Boyd

2 Scharenberg

3 Kelly

4 Billings

5 Aish

6 Bontempelli

7 Lennon

8 McDonald

9 Freeman

10 KK

That sounds about it! Clubs have been talking and making mini deals. The only spanners in the worx are GC and BB

youre right about the 'flankers' they can work the middle at kiddy-ball but need time out of the middle to really develop at VFL/AFL level.

Freemans wonkiness can be polished, but he has the underlying talent for the midfield

Still theres 3 or 4 decent pickups for us to choose from. Like you id prefer Freeman

Terry Wallet on trade radio saying we should take Sheed at pick 9 if hes there

the Wallet hath spoken

Wallet could well be right. Sheed is one of a fairly large group of boys with good prospects.

Anyone of them could be the right choice for us. It's all like a lottery.

How they are developed after selection is the key.

Lennon looks great in those highlights. Really handy attributes to have for someone who can be developed into a full time mid. Kicking and marking are unbelievable and whilst his frame isn't solid yet, he's no stick. Extremely hard to tell from a highlights package but if Lennon's not afraid of getting his hands dirty and has the right attitude, he'll be a jet.

Josh Kelly extremely underwhelming. Have seen him play before a couple of times and the highlights are the same. He'll get eaten alive next year if he plays AFL. Definitely needs a frame.

Freeman is the other I'd be happy with although he seems to have a habit of throwing ball to boot without thinking ala Nathan Jones early in his career. Something that can be easily fixed.

We need a well rounded mid with pick 9. Not a one-dimensional inside mid with not much outside game or a skinny classy outside mid with no ball winning ability. Needs to be a Dangerfield/Fyfe type of player for us.

Lennon or Freeman. Make it happen.

watching Ben Lennons highlights gave me a 7Yr Norwegian Wood twitch ^_^

In my eyes, Aish will fill out easier and quicker than Kelly, and I reckon he's got a few more tricks. We'll see though.

As for Sheed, he lopes around the ground. Not quick, but glides like Pendles. I really rate him. But again, we'll find out soon enough.

Just watched Freeman, Lennon and Sheed. Sheed does look tough and smart.

Freeman is the one for me. I love the way he backs his pace and takes the game on. I can understand the Shuey comparison and he's already got a strong body. Melbourne have a problem with inside 50 entries and granted that was due to our old crap midfield and next year's will look a lot different, but a guy like Freeman plays like Dustin Martin and increases your forward 50 entries just be his explosive speed and instincts. Freeman is what we're missing and exactly what we need.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
