Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

James Frawley .. need him to commit

Just from the interview with James Frawley on the MFC website.

“As a leader for me, you’ve got to knock [things] on the head early, as soon as you see something, act on it straight away. That’s what I try and do and I’m a pretty passionate guy on the footy field. You’ve got to act on it straight away and giving clear and concise feedback is the best way to do it.

Well knock something on the head here James and re sign at the football club. Act on it straight away so we don't have any more distractions heading into next season. If not tell us now so we can get something for you . We really need to keep him and should do whatever it takes.

Yep. We got to make him the offer in terms of $$$ and years that he deserves and then he has to step up and take it and play like it.

Otherwise he becomes the Trav Cloke or BJ Goddard/Buddy Franklin of 2014 and is a distraction we dont need. Not to mention losing him for a compo pick only which potentially is a nice pick but doesn't replace a mature quality full back. Plenty of teams will be interested in him in 2014 and I'd see Gold Coast would lead the charge with a massive offer.

Exactly right. Not only losing him will gut us and set us back a few years but we do not need another year of distractions. He needs to commit or tell the MFC now so we can get something done and truly attack this season with no outside distractions.

100% agree DT, lead by example and re-commit to this club. Do not wait for next season and and base your decision on next years results, waiting only leaves yourself open to offers from opposition clubs and will create indecision.

There should be no reason for him to wait a year. He knows it's going to be tough and one season won't change his mind. He needs to speak his mind now and prove he is a real leader and recommit to the cause like he is asking others to do

I actually think Hawthorn will make the best offer. They would love him and they definitely have the money due to Franklin leaving.

Im agreeing with you DT, however i do believe next years results with have some sort of impact on his decision. Maybe not so much results but definetely the way the team performs. Otherwise i see no reason why he wouldnt just re-sign now. whats he waiting for??

Yeah that's what I'm worried about. Why is he delaying. I don't think they are holding out money on him, I'm fairly certain that they know how valuable he is to us and length of a contract wouldn't be a problem for him so the delay worries me. So he should just come out one way or another and do what he is telling the rest of the club to do

The sort of carry on seen in this thread is exactly what drives players out of clubs.

It's not critical right now.

If he comes out and says "I'll wait til the end of the season," then you have some cause for concern.

Until then, stop jumping at shadows.

I'd love to see him commit for 3 years. I hope he does it over the summer period.

If we get to round one and he hasn't signed, then I fear we can kiss him goodbye.

if unsure Chip, then sign a 1Yr extension. then we can both deal evenhanded next year.

It pains me to say. I think that he's already making plans for jumping ship next year. Would love to be wrong, but...

He's done two articles saying how much Melbourne means to him despite the quagmire of [censored] he's had to swim through. Meanwhile, he's not signing a contact extension.

Start of next year it will be, "I'm dealying any contract negotiations until the end of the year." Maybe his manager will be smart enough to rephrase this, so as to not telegraph the intention too much.

If we have an opportunity to get value for him in the last week of trading, do it. Love him to pieces, but we need something to show for losing a top tier defender. Remember, AFL wants no compo for FA next year.

C'mon posters, bring on your hate, I can take it.

He needs to tell the club of his intentions before next Friday, if he wants out, then we can trade him before he becomes a free agent in 12 months.

Roos talked about players being traded before they reach FA status. I would hope we are gauging his current value, if it is a first rounder to someone then we should be putting some options to him to sign now or we look at a trade before next year when we might get a second round compensation pick maybe. He can counter this of course if he wants to.

Let us just say I am a pessimist in this whole FA bargaining. We will be working uphill into a headwind just to stay competitive in this environment. Our only hope to keep Chip is that the side gets totally fit, develops some kids and we start winning games big time a la Port A. If he sees there is hope he may stay.

One alternative is to trade Chip now and look at Hogan to cut his teeth as a CHB a la David Neitz for a few years to fill a need as we hopefully have Clarke and Dawes up forward and we know Hogan played both ends as a junior.

Get him to sign a 2/3 year contract, if he doesn't then we look at a trade, pure and simple, I reckon we could cover him, throw Hogan at CHB

If Chip is thinking of an out, then tell us now Chip. & we can arrange things.

I'm sure GWS would make him a squillion-aire offer with the money saved from Buddies warchest.

Chip & our 2ndRnd Pick for Dylan Shiels, Ploughman & Pick 9

I think this was wholly in reference to Vince, not Frawley.

Do we even know that the club has offered Frawley an extension yet, and if so what his answer was..?

He doesn't have to sign now, there is no need for ultimatums now.

Should we start acting like a decent club or should we just continue to act like the toddler of a club we have been these last 7 years?

Play good footy, get players to want to stay, and don't fret the end is near when they do leave. We can meet his wage and trade him or get Pick 5 for him as comp.

Pick 5 as compensation? Rpfc you know how it works but this seems optimistic. Of course if true then yes we stay the course and see what happens in 2014.

I think all we know is Chip hasn't been mentioned as signing a contract extension.

& I think it was fairly public, that Chip wanted out to the Saints earlier in the year. thats what has started all this talk.

& if we finish 9th next year, it could be around P11ish, or later?

That's the point, dude. If we finish 9th, not only will I be stoked, he'll be far more inclined to want to stay because he'll see us as heading in the right direction. Not to mention we'd be far more attractive to decent players at other teams.

And if we finish in much the same way we do now and he decides to go then yeh, it'll be pick 5ish, so we move on.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
