6 Elliott Street, Lake Grace

I never held it against Cale Morton that he failed to kick on after being selected at pick 4 in the 2007 AFL National Draft but, sure as hell, I'm not impressed about the fact that he failed to tell the MFC recruiting people about the kid who lived next door to him at 8 - 10 Elliott Street, Lake Grace.

Two years after we drafted Morton, Nat Fyfe who is my favourite footballer outside Melbourne's list, was taken by Fremantle at pick 20 after we took $cully (1), Trengove (2), Gysberts (11) and Tapscott (18).

Damn!

Nat Fyfe has come along way from Lake Grace to the AFL's biggest stage

The Fyfes lived at 8-10 Elliott Street; the Mortons lived at No. 6; and their football playground was anywhere they could find it.

Fyfe is an absolute gun. If I had the choice of recruiting anyone from another AFL team I would take him in a flash. He rates 8+ in every skill department and has a huge dose of courage. And we chose Cale Morton.

I am going to need a double shot of Tullamore Dew now just to get through to the Grand Final.

Fyfe last week i'd give two years worth of draft picks for that

Shocking kick for goal by the former occupant of 8 - 10 Elliott Street early in the game.

His second shot was no better. Two shots OOB and now a free against Hodge.

... but he is playing a great game. Keeping them in it at the moment.

The occupant of 8 - 10 is his team's best to half time and bar for his three missed shots and a couple of free kicks, he's been fine. A terrific player who will become a star of the game if he's not already.

Yeah, getting lots of the ball but not very effective ATM.

Agree with that he was ordinary with his disposal today; lot of pressure though.

At least he help his team get there Robbie

which is more than can be said for this lot

$cully (1), Trengove (2), Gysberts (11) and Tapscott (18).

Two of them will never get there and another is doubtful.

Fyfe is an absolute superstar.

Would trade pretty much all of our draft picks for the next two seasons for him.

thats no good, Freo would pick 6 superstars with those picks.

we've just gotta learn, to get footybetter, footy smarter.

Would have been nice. An absolute gun!

I could go and see if he has a brother as I am sitting in the Wheatbelt right now LOL

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
