Paul Roos was interviewed on 5AA this afternoon. Excellent interview - I guess no one is surprised. He went over some old ground but also introduced new material. Indicates that Jade Rawlings is staying on, and his son Tyler, is going through the list for him!

If nothing else, Roos is so engaging, he will be an PR person for the club.

Also sounds as though Trenners might not be captain next season.

I'm hoping Roosy does what I would do: drop Trengove back to vice-captain and just have Jack Grimes as sole captain. I rate his leadership really highly, and I think as a leader he is actually better than Nathan Jones.

I just see absolutely no harm in multiple captains at a time when we are still in for the long haul. Until one of our players reaches Selwood, Hodge, Watson, Nick Riewold, J Brown, Pav level of consistency why burden any individual

Only problem with Grimes is he's at best a C grade footballer.

I suggest you go rewatch the games he played before injuring his shoulder against Carlton this year. I think you'll find he was in our best every week.

He was still butchering the ball though, Chook. I'm not saying he can't or won't improve, I just don't think he should be captain right now. As a team mate, you'd be watching him turn it over and wondering, why is he the guy that's leading us? You don't have to be an A grader to be captain, but your capabilities should be a little higher than C grade.

Anyway, it's good having a coach that really seems to care about his players. He seems to be an amazing man manager.

I just question whether a C grade footballer should be captain. Trengove was B grade for mine this year. I'd keep him as captain sooner than Grimes.

Surely you don't mean B Grade in the league? He averaged 17 touches.and kicked 9 goals for the year.

No way on earth I'd be selecting Trengove as captain ahead of Grimes. Mysterious injuries or not, ever since he's been captain he's gone backwards in his development.

I am really looking forward to 2014 season.

Must admit I never would have thought that after 2013 but its amazing how your mindset can change if positive things happen at the footy club.

I know it going to be another hard season but at least we have a man in charge is knows what he is doing and NOT learning on the job which makes a nice change.

Captaincy comes down to leadership imo... Look at some of the more recent captains... Tom Harley, Cameron Ling, Nick Maxwell, Nathan Van Berlo etc... People wouldnt be calling them A grade players but they are A grade individuals.. I think Grimes is among them as an A grade person who will give his all for the club and then some.

Interesting point.

what IF scenario, depending on who Paul Roos atracts to our club to increase onfield leadership.. What IF Jones was made captain as Many have called for, and we struggle again next year, with Jones being tagged out each week... his form & confidence would drop right off.

I'm OK with multiple.

But the real answer isn't which captain, but the depth of ability & the spread of performance in all matches. the team actually being competative, & being responsible to help one another, & to play 'For' one another.

or maybe ...... ever since he had Mark Neeld as coach he went backwards in his performance?. None of us know whether this was a contributing factor, but he certainly seemed to lift a notch under Neil Craig.

I think Colin Garland would be a good choice for captain, Jones is a great onfield leader title of not and is improving every year, if something aint broke don't fix it

but Garland is ultra consistant, plays his role for the team week in week out, great on and off field leader

either Garland or Jones unless we attract a big name player somehow.

    With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.     The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm.
