BBP: thanks for the info. Regardless of how it turns out, it's good to have some rumours floating around here. You're probably right, but I think the Melbourne sweetener to Collingwood would be small. They are the same age and while Shaw has indeed been better, I don't think more than a swap of third round picks would be in order.

Hardtack: Bubs answered this for me. Last year, Port traded for free agent Monfries rather than sign him for nothing as it would have lessened their compo for Chaplin and Pearce. If Thomas was staying its not a deal they would do.

Bub: I don't think the Sylvia compo will be that good based on the criteria. I'd rather be proactive with him rather than sitting around waiting for a pick that may end up being 60.

Heath Shaw has nominated Melbourne as his club of choice.

Sauce - A colleague at work had dinner with her son last night, who has a connection with Leading Teams Sports management.

I always have my doubts when demonlanders say "Sauce" (which is half the time).

Problem is I can't tell if they do it deliberately or not. Someone want to enlighten me?

Well, looking at rpfc's analysis of the FA compo bands, Sylvia could net us pick 21 (3rd tier, first pick after our 2nd round pick) - see rpfc's post here in the Sylvia to Bombers thread.

it makes sense that they will go after anyone to shore up their imminently depleting stocks

If Coll wants to keep pick 11 for Thomas then we could do something if they wanted Sylvia.

But the sweetener may be ours as they would lose more should we not agree.

Getting Shaw for effectively pick 21 is overs. The same pick got us Dawes and he will be of more, and better service than Shaw.

Long ways to go before this is something to stress over however.

I very much doubt that Shaw is involved with plans for pick 2.

Mahoney's own nominated parameters don't include someone of Shaw's age an experience, so I can't see him being in the thinking at this stage if we are down the track with anyone. Otherwise, why contradict yourself?

GREATER Western Sydney has launched a bold $4 million play for disgruntled Collingwood defender Heath Shaw.

How DESPERATE is GWS to land someone, anyone to its list. 800k pa is not just a little bit over its f'n ridiculous

Good luck Heath ... Western Sydney ought to to be like home away from home

4 mill.....lol

Club has already stated we won't be going after Shaw, so it looks like he'll be someone else's problem.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
