I'm sure the Bulldogs would at least consider trading a gun midfielder from their good stock of them to add a 10-year gun forward to their perennially useless, dwarven forward line. one interesting side effect regarding the PP is that we would basically lose Aish to GWS by them getting pick 2 instead of 3, that being the case who would be the next best midfielder that we would be looking at?

But I guess with Roos putting that pick on the table possibly anyway I don't think we would make use of it.

I think our best chance of geting some midfielders is going to come from Adelaide and West Coast. Perhaps with Worsfold resigning we might be able to get Gaff, Shuey or Selwood if we offer something attractive enough. (Pick 3) plus whatever loose change is required to get the job done.

Adelaide I suspect might be interested in Boyd and pick 1... and with Sloane a possibility. Such a trade might need to occur with another club coming in to facilitate with other options to make the deal work though.

Dogs and Saints don't really have enough to offer as far as midfielders (I am not saying there isn't quality there, just that they are probably in a similar position to us in that they don't have deep midfields either)

Collingwood & Gold Coast might be other possibilities.

Could well be a bit of a fire sale at the Bombers. The AFLPA have asked the commission to rule on players being allowed to walk out on the club as FA due to breach of contract by the club. We could get a couple of good young players for free if that happens.

Depth is more important than a single gun player at the moment I think. Maybe we can peel a couple of handy midfielders away from Essendon.

I think it's more about who those players are. If they're fringe players (as Kennedy and McGlynn were at the Hawks), then it's entirely possible we could receive a similar return. Two fringe players for a top pick. Very doable. I'll leave that to Roos and his team to identify though.

See, obviously I'd go both those deals. It'd more likely be pick 3 for Adams, so that GWS could trade that pick for an experienced player. I'd take Shuey or Selwood for 10, otherwise I'd try and package a deal with pick 10 for Gaff. This would still leave us the option of drafting Boyd at PP1. I'd then look at offering Sewell a heavily front-loaded three year contract.

I have said this a couple of times on different threads. The answer may be in a pick coming back our way.

If we get PP1 then it's Boyd and quite a few clubs will get very friendly with us.

The best deal may be a couple of good players and a pick back. In other words, clubs could be so desperate to get Boyd, that they might pay slight overs and trade a couple of good players and say give us their first round pick, or maybe their second round pick and then swap rounds with us all the way through the rest of the draft.

Who knows, but PP1 would put us in a great position to get players that immediately improve our side.

The amount of good players taken in the rookie draft and late in the main draft with older players etc, shows that even if you trade a few early picks, there are still players to get later, if you are smart enough.

We took Jones and Terlich late last year and they finished 3rd and 4th in the B & F. Clisby was a rookie. All three can improve their games as well.

What about pick 1 (so many clubs want/need Boyd) out in exchange for a decent (non-star) mid plus a mid-first round pick?

Or the possibility of a three-way trade where Pick 1 goes to (for example) Fremantle and Fremantle sends 'x+y' to GWS in order to give Taylor Adams and 'z' to us.

The possibilities are endless. Gold Coast's midfield is fine and dandy, maybe we can bring Presita home?

I'd still be surprised if we got pick 1, despite our finishing position and % being the most obvious 'entitled to pick' situation in the history of priority picks.

Depending on the player's team, a fringe player could mean a B grader. I would say a B grader is "solid". If we could add two B graders, with potentially a little bit of development left in them, I'd just about take that for pick #2.
