Sloane may indeed be a B&F winner and may indeed talk about being a one club player but that shouldn't and won't discount him from Adelaides long term plans and list management. If they see pick 2 as getting a player from the draft that will add value to their team then Rory just might be the sacrificial lamb.

I hear what you're saying it is possible.......

But why would AFC give away a proven quality mid in Sloane to get what with no 2 pick???? They want Boyd - we can't give them Boyd with pick 2 - Sloane ain't coming to the MFC

Unless he says he wants to leave AFC - which goes back to my original point, it'd be pure fluke if he wanted to leave and chose the MFC, it's be a massive coup and bigger then netting Roos IMO

And Col is not looking good. We can't afford to lose him at this stage. We will not be adequately compensated for his departure. (not that the AFL cares)

I think Band 3 (Pick 20) is pretty good for Colin.

I am expecting that. Pearce and Chaplin each got that.

Agreed, though I reckon he'll stay.

Is it at all possible given he had a decent year, the failed PP bid coming into consideration quietly and our lack of success and him being one of the only older players in the team, we might be given band 2 compo?

so the crows want either Aish or Sharenberg? with our pick 2, but we should trade it for one player they want to trade to us for it???

Is Sloane really that good????

or can we go about things in another way to maximise our pick?

Is GWS going to take Scharenberg, bypassing Boyd?????? it'll be interesting to see if they trade Patton this trade period.

Sloane is good and proven! Would take him over a young question mark!

The question is why would Adelaide give up a proven player for a young question mark.

yes, but if we can get a 2ndYr or 3rdYr player who has shown some,,,, plus a pick a well, we could add some instant support & a kid as well, & grab a couple of elders to top em up for 2 years... while the kids grow.

we need more than just one player.

Agree with that but our only currency is draft picks.

And who may that be?

And who may that be?

depends who they need.

for mine, gawn & howe are potentially of value to others, IF we can get the players we Need. it would have to be a very good deal to do it.

I think there is a chance that might happen.

Can the moderators please lock this thread?

As if Adelaide are going to let go one of their most valuable assets. Plus Sloane has already declared his heat and soul for the Crows.

Confused as to why we're even talking about Sloan as a possible recruit.

He has expressed his desire to come back to Melbourne (not necessarily the Dees). Hasn't recommitted to AFC as far as I know!

Of course other than having a contract until the end of 2015!

the Crows have said they will trade agressively to get into the top end of the draft though!

Where has he quoted to saying that.

I had beers with some boys from the Tecoma Upwey Tigers tonight. The rumour around the club is still that Rory wants to come home.

While I don't think it's impossible for us to land Rory, i'd be surprised, for one why would the crows trade an established quality mid for a player who may become the same thing?

we'd need Rory to want to come home, and so much so the crows lost hope of retaining him.

Band 2 would be pick 18.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
