BREAKING:

Allegations surrounding Essendon Football club suggest that dumped sports science guru could be the centre of a doping allegation surrounding the Essendon Football Club.

Mark Robinson has said that It is known that Essendon players signed consent forms, for use of performance enhancing drugs, and were given directions for self-use. Essendon strongly denied this yesterday to the AFL, however the press conference today is rumoured to be a confession into the on-goings of performance enhancing drugs.

These allegations, if proven true, carry with them major penalities.

Didn't help the second half of their season.

I wonder how much it helped their first?

They looked unquestionably bulkier in 2012 than in 2011. You could even say unnaturally so.

You talking about Essendon or West Coast?

If true, would Essendon also be charged with 'bringing the game into disrepute' (in addition to drug charges)? Surely this is worse than 'tanking'.

Interesting that Watson on SEN this morning announced that the AFL would be announcing our penalties today or tomorrow; smoke screen maybe?

Our sport really does not need this. 99% of me desperately hopes this is false.

But if someone must be found guilty, Essendon is a good choice. 1% of me wants this to be true.

True!

Can anyone confirm that the sports science 'guru' at the centre of this storm - Stephen Dank - is currently employed by the MFC??

Don't even joke about that :P

I couldn't handle another [censored]-storm being flung our way.

I'm not joking. A poster over at Bomberblitz claims he is.

Sigh.

I guess if he left BECAUSE of the cheating then that's ok. Maybe.

I dream of jeanie.

Hehe. Hird slipped up and nearly said 'substances' instead of 'supplements' in the press conference.

Just reading the commentary on the presser (no sound at work).

It sounds like they are framing it as a request to the AFL to investigate, not a declaration of any wrongdoing.

Looks like Clothier is in charge.

Stephen Dank is not on the list of staff members at MFC (although Jason Taylor has finally been listed - National Recruiting Manager)....

SuperFooty: James Hird: "I'm very disappointed and shocked."

Come on Jim, pull the other leg. You didn't know?? Didn't notice that your guys "bulked up" even quicker than the WCE? Strange that everyone else did.

To be fair I don't think there were any outright accusations before this. At least none that I heard.

I remember vaguely reading about a substantially amped up pre-season resulting in significant bulking up of some players. Subsequently some of those players developed soft tissue injuries due to the strain, but I don't remember any accusations of anything other than an enhanced pre-season program.

Could be wrong though.

He's not listed on our website as being employed by the club

Ah good. I don't have to worry about buying adult nappies to protect the pants I undoubtedly would have shat in had that been the case.

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc.
