If the MFC got one or two genuine midfielders for pick two, and get them quickly, it will only make the club more attractive to other midfielders wanting a move. I would have thought whoever we trade for pick two would be a selling point (if it get us a gun or two)

^^ When? You've been saying its a done deal for over 2 days....

Wow a whole 2 days including a weekend! Calm down. No point getting excited or angry, we will find out either way in due course

He rated Kirk, Ben Mathews, Crouch, Amon Buchanan, Luke Ablett and Paul Bevan enough that with a decent chunk of talent around them they became premiership players. McKenzie might not be Kirk or have any Ablett genes but I'm a believer in him.

Love his spirit, determination, work rate and discipline but if he doesn't improve his disposal, particularly by foot, then he will find it harder and harder to get a game as we improve the calibre of our midfield.

"The Dockers also appear resigned to losing young midfielder Viv Michie, who is keen to join Melbourne after three years with Fremantle".

From today's AFL website trade news.

I must say hats off to stevethemanjordan for opening this thread - a well calculated thought/ trade.

Things are looking and sounding positive, from what I've heard he's not over the line yet but sounding likely.

If we get him for the right price then I don't see this as a bad thing at all. Interested to see how it develops.

Hopefully when we trade/sign Viv it will be the start of more trades to come

AFL site states as follows:-

Trade Wrap

The language of the trades is fascinating and unique. Michie has played one AFL game in three years and yet, the Dockers "appear resigned" to losing him. Makes the bloke sound like he's Garry Ablett Junior or something and he's going to cost us pick 2!

I quite agree with other posters about how he would be a good addition to the midfield but surely for pick #36 (start of third round) rather than pick #20. There are better prospects around at #20 (& #21 if we get compensation)!

It's sounding positive isn't it.

I'll be pretty excited if we get this fella.

Pick 54 (4th round) is the right trade ... or tell Freo we will get him via pre season draft as Pick 2.

Yes I would like this too, although to my understanding Freo want to retain him.

I don't think they will accept that trade and I don't think the MFC would want to take the risk if he has to nominate through the draft. I'm guessing a third round pick or a player swap.

Was told today he will be our first confirmed trade. Wants to play under roos.

I'm hoping we add Shiel, Vince, Zak Jones and Cross (PSD) to this.

We might then be looking at an AFL standard midfield. And a reasonably competitive, well rounded list.

Have to agree, that would be a true win for us over the trade/ draft period considering the circumstances.

Although for me instead of Shiel I hope the club pulls off another doozy (like the secret Roos acquisition) and we obtain one of those old fan favorite rumours that have passed like Rockliff, Sloane, or D. Swallow.

Sydney get Buddy, Carlton get Thomas, we get all excited about possibly getting Viv Michie.

He might come to us and he might even be a good player for us.

The point that I find perplexing is that he has played 1 senior match in 3 years which, in MHO is not a lot to get excited about.

Or am I missing something?

I guess he's reported as saying that he wants to play for us (or Paul Roos), so that makes him rather unique.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
