Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Anyone that thinks we have a strong forward line is not thinking straight. We don't, our backline would stand up pretty well with Frawley and Garland but not the forward line.

Reckon we should trade Boyd if we had a chance to get him, no way. We will pick up mids, trade and develop some. You just don't get the opportunity to get once a once in a generation forward line. Ask the doggies.

I know our mids are weak, we all can see that but don't be blinded by it and think we are ok in other areas of the ground, we are not. There won't be any A grade mids on the table apart from free agents and pensioners so unless the dogs want to give up Griffen then I would say no deal.

From what I see in the coming draft Aish is the x factor mid, the grunt is Crouch and another Vic country boy who might be a bargain buy down the list is a kid called Holman. Very tough and hard at it.

Could not agree more rjay. Unless we get offered an abosolute STAR we should not be trading Boyd and should be snagging him for ourselves.

You dont use the draft to fix short term issues (like our midfield) as they are invariably not going to fill that role effectively for another 4-5 years. We need to draft boyd if we get the opportunity and another gun with pick 3 (aish or sheed it appears) and trade in / use FA to address our lack of midfield strength and depth.

I noticed only Frosty Demon liked your post no. 97. You keep good company there BH.

I put you on ignore many months ago after noting your continuous inane offerings. In recent times I thought I'd start afresh. Needless to say that was an utter waste of time.

Never let it be said that the great bozo BH does not give people a second chance. I'm honoured to have proved myself worthy of your ignorance.

Yeah, I'm impressed everytime I see Holman play. In a midfielders draft, I still don't have any of the pure inside mids in the top 5, but there are a number of good ones to be had later in the draft, & Holman's going to provide great value for someone probably from 3rd rd onward. Good size and likes contact.

The funny (or stupid in BH's case) is that Benny believes the ignore button is a type of punishment. Pls put me on ignore, or if you already have, thanks in advance.

No one cares who you have on ignore!!!

My concern is that we already have a pp being added to the list effectively with Jesse Hogan coming on board, the equivalent of adding 2 top 3 picks to the list, i wonder if that will hinder our chances of getting a PP?

No, because we delayed a pick from last years draft it doesn't come into it.

Just re-hashing the idea of a priority pick hypothetical trade for MFC, give your thoughts on whether this trade scenario would be fair to all clubs involved?

*assuming that all players involved are willing to be traded*

Multi Club Trade
- MFC send Pick 1 to Carlton and pick 20 to Essendon
- Carlton sends pick 9 and Warnock to GWS, sends Yarran to Essendon, and pick 29 and Robinson to MFC
- Essendon sends Bellchambers and pick 14 to GWS
- GWS sends Taylor Adams to MFC and Pick 3 to Adelaide
- Adelaide sends Rory Sloane to MFC
Essentially:

PS: go easy on the new guy ;)

Great start mate. Not sure I'd want Robinson though. Keep posting please.

If we get pick one we take Boyd.

Take Boyd and develop him with what midfielders? Although drafting young talent is important, it is as equally important for MFC to introduce quality players now, so that the young talent we do have/get can be developed properly to then fulfill their potential.

In regard to Boyd specifically, he seems only to be rated #1 because he is the only genuine KPF in the draft, no doubt he will be a good player, but lets not get caught up in every other clubs desperation for a KPF. MFC already have a fairly strong forward setup for the future and we have a KPF that looks to be the best thing since sliced bread, so i question the need for Boyd!

The wise choice for MFC would be to trade #1 for existing AFL quality players, and keep #2 to bring in more young talent, i.e. Aish, sheed, kelly etc.

No his rating comes from last year, he would have gone in the top few in that draft. He is seen as one of the best key position prospects in a while. better than Paton and was rated higher than Hogan and we know how he is tracking. We will get other high picks for mids and will trade for others. A forward line of Hogan and Boyd would set us up for the next decade.

We would not get a good enough offer to pass him up. It would take a Griffen, Dangerfield or Fyfe to give him away and that's not going to happen.

If Clark makes it back then he goes into the ruck, adds a quality ruckman and midfielder in one. No more tap ruckman waisting a position on the ground.

hogan and boyd will be better than franklin and roughead imo

Maybe. But only if we can get a similar line up to Hodge, Mitchell, Lewis and Sewell to deliver inside 50. Not to mention kicks like Guerra and Suckling. Otherwise, Hogan and Boyd would become expensive goalposts.

It would make a farce of the term priority pick if we do not get one. The afl said they would only be granted for multiple years of poor performance to stop teams being rewarded for one bad year.

On that basis we have had five poor years in a row and if we don't get one no one ever will. Actually you could almost argue we have had decades of poor performance!

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
