The only reason id consider Craig is of the players truly had a great relationship with him. In that case, keeping him on would add some on field stability, which I think the group needs, while still moving on from the Neeld regime.

He would have to be able to show he was in charge and would still maintain a professional standards and hard line as a coach while having that good relationship with them, ie demonstrate how he'd avoid a tail wagging dog scenario.

It may not work, I don't know the inner machinations. But I think some of this is what Craig means when he days "mfc needs to identify what type of coach it needs".

I disagree.. He might have at least started the game as though he thought we should play to win. Having no forward options really and allowing Dawes to be nobbled all day wasnt ( for mine ) overly inspiring.

I thoroughly disagree we have a [censored] poor list. We have some good defenders, forwards and talls. The mids are currently pathetic. Like a chronic lower back problem there. Cuts the body in half and unable to function. Aside from fixing this problem there is the need to get rid of the lack of focus, direction and the almighty inferiority complex. Not going happen on the dregs of the remaining season.

There is no doubt that mentally and emotionally we look miles ahead of where we were under Neeld. Body language is better, effort (apart from this week) is better. Tackling is improved, game plan looks a lot more fluid (again, apart from this week).

Craig is obviously a very good people person, you just need to listen to him talk to the media.

But tactically he has been disappointing, which obviously is a hard thing to try and do mid season after 18 months of rubbish. More worryingly it is the lack of team changes each week that I am not happy with, especially after two very hard weeks physically, to make only 1 forced change (well 2 if you count Terlich), was just a bad move. We were stuffed after half time.

No excuses though, to coach a team to a 120+ point loss against a mentally weak opponent is bloody poor.

If he was the only experience coach available, I'd seriously consider him, and I still think he has a lot of good to contribute to the club. But with so many other attractive options, I don't think he has any chance.

Having said all that, no coach will be able to make us a decent team without getting the midfield sorted. Our midfield is barely VFL standard, and we cannot keep relying on poor Jones to carry the team at every bounce, or expect Viney at 18 years of age to lift the standard.

the biggest problem with us and has been for several years is we always have a period where we give our supporters some hope and then it's suddenly "business as usual" like on Saturday. That's the MFC unfortunately..... Culture ???

Thought Craig's presser ,was actually reasonable under the circumstances. He was clearly filthy and talked about toughness, digging in and coming to perform amongst other things, but then I thought about the game and wondered are we able at this point ,to make Davey, Blease, Watts, Pederson and others tough or to do the tough things or even the 1%ers? We have recruited some soft candy.
