WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DANIEL CROSS

Hope your views are pointed out to him so he can ensure he surpasses your expectation

Give it time. Right now, Cross is an outsider and therefore not to be trusted. It takes time for Satyr's worshipping complex to take hold. Once players and officials have been at the club long enough, they can literally do no wrong.

Three important rules to remember:

1. All Melbourne coaches and admin are never to be questioned. They are gods.

2. All Melbourne players should never be scrutinised. They are gods.

3. All fans on demonland, bigfooty, pretty much anywhere online, are clueless scum and not to be trusted. Treat them with utmost contempt at all times.

I'm actually glad Satyr doesn't like the Cross recruitment. Based on his posting history, it means we're onto a good thing.

lol

This time last year you were on the "Neeld needs structure" bandwagon. You thought Dawes would kick 40-50 goals and Pederson would be better than Dawes.

Bob's right. You're funny.

Demonland's favourite troll!

So good to have you back Hazy!

You've been terribly missed x

This will be the first time that Dawes will fulfill the true full forward's role, as indicated by Neeld recently, and subsequently I expect him to kick more goals, i.e. 40-50.

Dawes kicked 12 from 12 in 2013 and you don't get to blame the mids because at the time you wanted tall timber for "structure".

Dawes and Pedersen will really help our forward structure. I believe that Pedersen will prove to be an even better player than Dawes, but they'll be equally important in their roles.

...

Best 22 additions for 2013 - Viney, Dawes, Pedersen, Byrnes and pick 4.

...

Pedersen will play 22 games next year

lol

Terlich and M Jones, 3rd and 4th in the Bluey. Your best additions for 2013 didn't make the top 10.

Pedersen payed 10, kicked 5.

Mark Neeld thinks like many of us. He got rid of every single player many of us wanted to get rid of. He's on our page.

Love the bloke. The wins will start to come in 2013.

lol - a far cry from the "Neeld's a disaster" party that you showed up late to. Although, the wins did come in 2013 - both of them.

And then who can forget you passionate defense of Schwab, Connolly and McLardy for all those years.

You shouldn't go so hard on the other nitwits when your own record is so laughable.

You must be araldited to the saddle on that high horse of yours.

I'm so glad you're back!

I get sick of all the "footy talk."

I can't wait for you to undermine the board, or someone's opinion without giving your own or backing it up with any facts!

You're my hero Hazy!

I love you cos you're always right and you generate so much healthy politically charged discussion!

Have I used enough exclamation marks in this post yet?

I don't think so!!! x

You generate so much worthwhile debate Hazy!

You really are the saviour of demonland.

It's so good that you again grace us with your presence.

This forum would be lost without your sage guidance!

We'd all be so ignorant, if not for the miracle that is you!

I hope you understand that and the positive impact you have on the lives of all demonlanders! x

That might change now. My take is that Satyr no longer works for the club. He might feel a little less inclined to stick up for all and sundry.

Good point. I forgot he's been given the flick after too many unannounced doorstep visits.

haha..oh man, those Benny quotes aren't pretty. But we've all made bad calls, a bit unfair to drag up the past.

And who can put hand to heart and say they saw the extent of the Neeld disaster coming?

Cue several pages of me being shouted down by the Neeld bandwagon including Ben "Love the Bloke" Hur

Anyway, my point about BH was not that he made a bad call (or several shocking calls as the case may be) but that he shouldn't be so vicious and pompous when his own record is so abysmal.

In any case, I think Cross is a good pickup, especially since we didn't give him a 3 year "pedersen special".

A very warm welcome to Daniel Cross. The heartfelt sentiments of goodwill from Dogs supporters on BigFooty are a great endorsement of the benefit he'll bring to us and I'm very glad he's joined us.

On the question above - Grand New Flag, hardnut, Baghdad Bob, bandicoot among a few others (but not me) can take plenty of credit for seeing the writing on the wall early.

Hey, I was calling for Dean Bailey's head at half time of Round 1, 2008. Is there some sort of commemorative Demonland stick pin for this?

Tickled pink that you're a fan and so wedded to my views. Although you're a little too keen for my liking.

Neeld cleaned out every player I would have. Who would you have kept ?

I'm not close enough to the club to know we were dealing with a personality who was going to alienate so many. But he made the right calls on every single player, although his handling of Moloney was terribly poor and if it wasn't for Neeld he'd still be a Demon. Not a great player, but a Demon nonetheless. Again, who would you have kept ?

Yeah, our recruiting was ordinary, although I like Dawes. He'll be a 40 goal player if he can ever be injury free and play a whole season. You disagree ? Hardly soul destroying. Pedersen was a dud first time I saw him "live". I was foolish to give him the benefit of the doubt on the back of some comments from North supporters. I'll cope.

Terlich and Matt Jones ? They're OK, but I don't overly rate either. Handy depth players. I liked Jones early on, but as the year wore on you notice their limitations. I prefer Clisby to Terlich, so let's see how that pans out. I did my best 2014 team on the main board a week, or so, ago and neither Jones or Terlich made the side. Interesting that you seem to rate them so highly given you're quoting their B&F results. We'll see. Perhaps you can share your team ? As a heads up we have a few new players you may want to look up.

"Vicious" ? LOL. You fragile soul.

I wouldn't pump Bob up too much. He had a close eye on internal workings as his role as a volunteer and still thought Harrington and Prendergast were the bees knees.

"Thanks Bazz"

Snigger.

Everyone here got sucked in by Pedo as he had some really good VFL performances for the Roos twos where he actually played like a man. It made sense that he wasn't getting a game being about 4th of 5th in line in there talls. Then, watching his 2 minutes of highlights he looked pretty damaging in his couple games.... what wasn't to like??

And then we saw the real man, squibbing contests, ducking his head, lifting his elbow when he was a meter passed a player.

Maybe we could off load him again for pick 88 noting he played some great games for Casey this year and would have another solid 1 minute of highlights to add to his 2 mins from the Roos. I remember one contested grab against the power and the running, couple bounces goal against GWS that all looked pretty flashy.

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
