So, I need a little bit of assistance for when I watch Dean Terlich play.

If he was a Top 5 draft pick, I'd sit back with great arrogance knowing that this kid will be a superstar for years to come. However...he was picked up at #68, and I just don't know what his ceiling is.

Can someone who has connections somewhere, whether with the coach or the football department, anything, give me something on young Dean. Is he going to be a good average player? Will he win a Norm Smith?

I think he is a bloody beauty, and whoever is responsible for picking him up has done a bloody great job. I just don't know what my expectations of him should be, so I need the help of my fellow Demonlanders to help form my opinion before I go out and get the number 46 put on my jumper! I hope i"m not the only one that is scratching my head wondering just how good he can be.

(Nb. I don't mind a player making errors, especially when they go hard in to the next contest to try and fix it).

Every coach's press conference I've hear has mentioned how both he and Matt Jones are only going to get better as they get more experienced. I suppose that's all anyone can tell you for now.

Personally, I reckon he has been in our best 6 almost every week this year, and in our top 3 overall.

Dean Terlich is one of the few players who, when he see's a player in trouble or under pressure, runs as fast a possible to help out.....also why he has some turnovers because he is always in the most pressured situations. Dean also is one of the quickest thinkers in the team under pressure. The main point is the he is hunts the ball, and wants the ball....so few in the team do this, hence why we get smashed in the possesions each week.

Genuine 150 + player.

If he was a forward, a lot of his turnovers would not be noticed... The last line of defence is a very difficult place to be in this day and age. I take my hat off to defenders.. Always under the pump and have to be very conscious of where they place their hands when trying to out manouvre their opponent..Give me a forward position any time. Forwards just have to prop and hope their opponent touches a shoulder or brushes an arm. and many times, (a la "whinger" Riewoldt on Saturday,) just have to spread their arms and make a sooky appeal to a vulnerable, incompetent umpire.. , .

The thing I like about Terlich is that he gets up and goes again after he makes a mistake. While a lot of his mistakes have been costly, that's what happens when you're in our backline. But he takes it on the chin and keeps going, which is I think something that has been missing for plenty of our players. Once he settles down a bit and gets some more games under the belt I have no doubt that the turnover side of his game will improve too. He also comes across to me as incredibly hungry, this is his second shot at making it in the AFL and he plays like a guy with a point to prove. I'm not saying I think he's going to be a superstar, but he has passion, drive and hunger three things our team has been lacking that we could certainly use a lot more of.

I've been thinking about getting his number too, though don't expect him to be wearing 46 next season.

He rocketed through SANFL ranks after being a so/so player earlier in his career so who knows. He gets better each week though so hopefully the sky is the limit! Viney (if responsible for getting him) has a good eye.

If Terlich and Clisby can be Ward and Wheatley we have spent the investment incredibly well.

We keep turning over the list looking for teenage stars in the making and we get two 23 year olds (in the Rookie Draft and Pick 68 in the ND) who look capable of playing the other 15 spots you need to fill every week.

He does everything right except dispose of it. Hopefully he can fix that with time. At the moment he's a liability when under pressure (and even sometimes when under no pressure) with the ball in hand, but if he can work on his kicking, then we've unearthed a quality half back flanker.

One of 2013's few bright spots.

Very reminiscent of Corey enright for me. Not saying he will be as good, but he is strong overhead, courageous, takes the game on however like boris, he can make a few mistakes. I think with natural development and picking up the pace of the game, he will turn out to be a first 18 player for many years to come! Credit to him by doing it the hard way too!

Plenty of very good players will be selected this way in years to come IMO, the pace a physicality of the game these days means that fora player to have an impact from the get go, they need to be fit and stong, not just skilled and talented

People would have said the same thing about Hird at pick #79!

I think he will be around for a while. Not only is he a good defender full stop but the way he can be dynamic and run through the corridor and make his own play is similar to Enright.

Only limitation is that he cant be a #1 or #2 defender. Thats ok now because we have Garland, Frawley, Pedersen and Tommy Mac.

At 23 when you know this is your last chance to get an opportunity at AFL, I think you are a lot hungrier. It was his move to the backline in SANFL that showed his potential and I think he was BOG in last years GF win for Norwood. His skills and decision making can improve as he turns the ball over a lot. Will benefit from extra skills drills and ball handling which Craig appears to be identifying already. Certainly knows where to go to find the ball.

once he can cut out his 2-3 blatant opposition goal assists he will be a real asset.

Whats more he constantly tries to handball when a kick would be a better option comming off half back. He also seems to get himself in a mess with opposition players when carrying the ball and then tends to handball it to a player who is under the hammer.

What he does well is get the ball. Can't fault him there but it is what he does when he has it. Oh and there are a few others like him as well.

Reminds me of Martin Pyke - same hunched running style - hard at ball, good judgement of when to leave man and become rebounding option. Has turned the ball over, but been under massive pressure all season - think he will end up being an absolute beauty and fan favourite.
