WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - PAUL ROOS

Yeah....that's right. Everything in AFL world is kosher and above board....*looks away* ;)

Collingwood would make him pay heavily if another Neeld situation happened and he left them high and dry for finals.

But who cares about the affect on the collywobbles?

Not I.

I would love Eade.

He still has the burning passion to be a senior coach, has plenty of years left in him and his teams play an exciting brand of attacking footy.

What about defensively?

I remember the dogs going well in attack but their defence was so so.

This is what worries me about Eade.

Mark Neeld fixed the defence.

Mark Neeld fixed the defence.

But with a new attacking game plan the players could revert to "lack of defensive mindset" again which we had under Bailey.

Don't get me wrong I am not against Eade but this is a concern of mine.

Agree HH. The other thing which appeals about Eade is that both the Swans and Dogs were struggling when he took over and he managed to turn both clubs around.

He also structured game plans around his available resources not trying to make his players play to a plan that was unsuited to them.

I have long felt he was next best after Roos.

Out of all possibles, Rodney Eade is my least choice.

Unlike most on this thread, I dont know if he is a good coach or ready to go again.

But my opinion is that of 5 possibles spoken about, the only one behind Neil Craig is Rocket.

I dont think any other club would appoint him as head coach. I can see most others vying for positions.

We need to train our players to run hard in both directions.

This may come into fruition when we recruit/draft 100 midfielders.

Mark Neeld fixed the defence.

Oppositions scored an average of 132.3 points when they played us under Neeld. I'd hate to see the number if he didn't "fix the defence".

I'd take Williams ahead of Eade every day of the week and twice on Sundays, but Rocket at least has the experience and numbers on the board that the club simply must have in its next appointment.

Yes, but it would have been more if our defence weren't as magnificent as they have been.

The barrage of inside 50s was like trying to push against a fire hose.

I'm talking about key personnel - our backline needs to stay together for the next 3 to 5 years.

Lol I don't give a crap about them, I just don't think they'd let Eade announce that before the end of their finals campaign.

No it's not, we can't announce him as he is still contracted at Collingwood and they declared that he would have to fulfill his contract before meeting with us.

Why can't it be announced? Sure he's still contracted until the end of the season and possibly beyond at the Pies but the early announcement of the senior coach does somewhat hinge on the re-signing of certain players.

Surely clubs are mature enough now to not only abide by the AFL's new rules but to also work together on handover strategies? Eade can still be immersed in the Pies role going into the finals and then step into the MFC at seasons end. He's been in the game long enough to understand how to direct his focus. Neeld would've wet his pants when awarded the job and Malthouse rightly sent him out the door - even though McChins blew a gasket.

Announce Eade or Williams ASAP.

It's not Eade, the rules say we can't interview any coach currently involved at another club, Richmond gave us permission to interview Choco but they didn't have to, meaning essentially we could interview 2 of our potential candidates

granted they are 1 and 2 on my wishlist.

also what if we win the next three games and the players come out and say they want to play under craig?

How are YOU in a position to judge ?

Oh, the irony.

I'd ask you to explain, but I have no interest in your opinion.

and yet you comment and fail to see the irony in that

funny old world

so its been declared that R;O"O:S IS DEFINATELY off the talk about list?

btw did I spell it properly

You blokes all need to get jobs, you want to hope Tony doesn't get voted in because your handouts will be Gone.

Look mate, who bloody knows haha

last i heard was that he was on the coaching shortlist, imo that wouldn't happen if he hadn't shown some form of interest behind closed doors, i highly doubt PJ would bother if he was totally out of the picture,

having said that Adam Simpson didn't make the short list at all and i have heard more people talking about him coaching us this last 3-4 days than anyone ever for any job so i guess it's a waiting game, shame GNF isn't around at the moment, he seems to be able to give an insight into the Roos situation

Yes, of course.

Reading all this is worse than watching the team.

Give it a rest.

well for starters old dee and wyl are about 90 yo definitely wont affect them

so good luck to abbott, maybe he can install higher burial rates as their close to using that service

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
