He still has the burning passion to be a senior coach, has plenty of years left in him and his teams play an exciting brand of attacking footy.

Agree HH. The other thing which appeals about Eade is that both the Swans and Dogs were struggling when he took over and he managed to turn both clubs around.

He also structured game plans around his available resources not trying to make his players play to a plan that was unsuited to them.

I have long felt he was next best after Roos.

Out of all possibles, Rodney Eade is my least choice.

Unlike most on this thread, I dont know if he is a good coach or ready to go again.

But my opinion is that of 5 possibles spoken about, the only one behind Neil Craig is Rocket.

I dont think any other club would appoint him as head coach. I can see most others vying for positions.

We need to train our players to run hard in both directions.

Yes, but it would have been more if our defence weren't as magnificent as they have been.

The barrage of inside 50s was like trying to push against a fire hose.

I'm talking about key personnel - our backline needs to stay together for the next 3 to 5 years.

No it's not, we can't announce him as he is still contracted at Collingwood and they declared that he would have to fulfill his contract before meeting with us.

Why can't it be announced? Sure he's still contracted until the end of the season and possibly beyond at the Pies but the early announcement of the senior coach does somewhat hinge on the re-signing of certain players.

Surely clubs are mature enough now to not only abide by the AFL's new rules but to also work together on handover strategies? Eade can still be immersed in the Pies role going into the finals and then step into the MFC at seasons end. He's been in the game long enough to understand how to direct his focus. Neeld would've wet his pants when awarded the job and Malthouse rightly sent him out the door - even though McChins blew a gasket.

It's not Eade, the rules say we can't interview any coach currently involved at another club, Richmond gave us permission to interview Choco but they didn't have to, meaning essentially we could interview 2 of our potential candidates

granted they are 1 and 2 on my wishlist.

last i heard was that he was on the coaching shortlist, imo that wouldn't happen if he hadn't shown some form of interest behind closed doors, i highly doubt PJ would bother if he was totally out of the picture,

having said that Adam Simpson didn't make the short list at all and i have heard more people talking about him coaching us this last 3-4 days than anyone ever for any job so i guess it's a waiting game, shame GNF isn't around at the moment, he seems to be able to give an insight into the Roos situation
