Junior McDonald returning to the MFC (rumour)

Theres been whispers lately that Junior might come back to the MFC at seasons and as midfield coach, or another role in the FD.

Anyone heard any more about this or is it just a nice story with no substance?

Probably just the wishes of people on Demonland which have gained a bit of momentum.

I think they are wishes and hopes but nothing will happen until the FD boss is appointed and the coach sorted out.

Wouldn't that be great. To have a favourite son return to the Club and basically saying ""all is forgiven".

His "retirement" remains an issue at the Club and his return would hopefully put an end to the constant breast beating that goes on and on and on.

Another area where the Club can move on.

Its a nice thought, but i'll believe it when i see it. I believe Stevo said a Choco Williams / Jr McDonald combo would be an easy sell to members

I do think the club needs some people in the FD who have played for us though, and who are actually passionate about what the jumper means (or did mean....)

Oh you mean like the Ox and a few on this board going along on Monday hoping we get smashed so the coach will be sacked, that puts a lot of meaning into the jumper doesn't it

Thats Rubbish, get the best candidates possible, doesn't matter who they have played for.

McDonald won't come back as long as Connolly is at the club.

McDonald won't come back as long as Connolly is at the club.

I was once told by someone with intimate knowledge that Todd Viney would never return to the club.

I never believe in absolutes when it come to people. We are not mathematical equations.

I know who I would prefer, juniors a man of integrity, I would love him back at the club.

Isn't connoley a life member? If he is, he is going no where guys.

And anyone who has the attitude "I won't return while that person is there" can gagf. The club needs unity nit factions and division and anyone who feels like that should do is all a fair and stay as far away from the club as possible. (I don't think junior would have that attitude, for the record)

If true (and I very much doubt it), that either speaks poorly of Junior's ability to move on or implies that CC holds a grudge and controls the FD from his marketing position at the club.

No i dont mean like the Ox

I mean guys Shane Woewodin or Jr McDonald - guys who have spent their time coaching, not lapping up the media spotlight

Not saying we make the FD a old boys club, but I think Worsfold and Sumich did so well at West Coast becasue the players and the whole club lapped up every word they said. There is no problems getting a team to 'buy in' when past greats of the club are telling the message. Woey or Jr can have Chocko's job any day of the week IMO

Or it means that Junior was shafted by Connolls and abandoned by the coach, CEO and board and won't return while blokes with shocking judgement and poor skills run roughshod over the club - potentially compromising his role again. Why go to work to have your effort shat on, lied about or ignored?

Just a theory.

Even KB came back to Richmond. Eventually.

Bring him back as a player. His better then 90% of tbe guys we are fielding at the moment.

Right we need unity and you want to tell people with a different view to gagf. Brilliant.

I am can't see why life membership provides guarantee of tenure. It did not help Junior.

Heard it two weeks ago - With Choco Williams as head coach - designed to mend old wounds. Was supposed to happen after Queens Bday so we will wait and see. Im doubtful. Would love to see him back in some capacity because he was an outstanding individual.

Again, in-season signings of people contracted elsewhere do not happen.

I met him on a plane to QLD of all places and he was an awesome bloke.

No where did I attempt to state or state that the rumour had any basis. Just repeating what was being bandied around facebook of all reputable places...

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
