Half a dozen out there (if not more) who just aren't (yet) AFL level. Injuries hurting us at the moment, it's not as if we're missing 6 fringe players. Plenty of effort, but just not the sklls, the vision or overall the experience to turn that into something. Those GPS figures are revealing, Howe over 7 k's to half time, but had hardly touched the ball.

Put Clark Sylvia Watts Grimes and McDonald back in and have a go like we did and there is something to look foward too.

Any news on Toumpas?

No cohesion moving the ball forward at all. It was almost always luck when Melbourne scored a goal. I wonder what the coaches are doing to rectify this?

Agreed but in the second and third qtr when they took their time and hit a target they looked good

WTF do we move the ball fast to flat footed players??? Players and coaches need to address this - make sure the man is on before giving them the ball

Kick long if under pressuer but If you take a good mark don't give up the ball FFS

Clark, Sylvia, Viney, Watts and that game turns out a little different.

Magner was great.

I loved Dawes game but he stops and waits for the ball in the last couple of steps on his lead... Needs to address that.

It could have got really ugly today but we fought... Even with nicho, Mckenzie, sellar butchering everything they touched we pushed them for 3 quarters.

It made sense when I joined this forum. But we've been such a FU since, that you are quite correct, it makes no sense now. I am considering a change. However, I don't want to confuse Stuie.

I wouldn't worry about others confusion with a profile pic like that...

The defence was great. Terlich, Sellar, Garland and even Frawley were really good given the midfield delivery.

Jones and Magner were really good. Bail/Nicholson/Strauss still aren't convincing me.

Dawes really let us down in the 3rd quarter when we needed him. Sorry, but he did. He loses intensity in the final few steps when approaching the ball.

Highlight of the game was Jamar kicking Vickery square in the balls. Nice to see MFC tackling and trying for once.

Bitter, think you're a little harsh. It was our best performance for the year, which probably doesn't say much I know. We were expected to get flogged and didn't. I thought Trengove started to show something.

McKenzie is hopeless as is Nicholson. Imagine if we had a Taggert with a microcosm of skill and a player coming off the hbf who is not a spud, albeit a quick one.

Magner was far too good today to have been rookied.

Evans, matt Jones, terlich, Dawes were all enjoyable to watch and justifying why they are in the side.

Jetta looked like a tried - never gave up and applied pressure.

Jamar won the ruck thanks to mullet's absense.

Aaron Davey was our best and our play maker and probably the only player on our list who has reliable kicking accuracy/disposal.

garland has really lifted and frawley was tidy.

Dawes made a massive difference to our forward half.

One of the few who can use it when he gets it though, a couple of nice hit ups.

Trengove had 15 kicks, four of which set up shots at goal that impressed me, plus his work rate was better, looks like he is running more freely, didn't get heaps of the ball in the first half but he was playing a sacrificial sort of role so it's hard to judge.

I didn't feel like getting in the car and closing the garage door today. Still, Freo next week.

Bitter, he should never have had the captaincy. It was like when we trotted Watts out to be slaughtered by Pies.

Why in the hell is he playing a sacrificial role, he needs to develop his game. You don't pick someone at 2 and play them as a defensive forward. No wonder he is struggling.

When will we get a few players who can hit targets by foot better than 30% of the time ?????????????????????????????????????

I watched Strauss closely today and without getting it to much he was fantastic from a positional sense - always goal side of Nahas. Who's stats I'd be interested to see.

because he is underdone, he is a good overhead mark and personally i don't think we had a better option, i don't agree with the decision, i think he should be on the ball every game, but first game back after a calf injury there is some logical reasons behind it i think, might be the only time i agree with Neeld this year but still.

They said on tv that Trengove was up here for GPS distance, and that he was playin a decoy old in F50 for Dawes, but hard to see on tv. I thought he looked to be moving better an his disposal after half time was good.

I'd shove him in the centre and make him run himself into form. He has too much class to stay down, he is 2 months behind everyone in fitness.

He looks to have very little muscle definition, hence no explosiveness or power. On top of that he stands around flat-footed too often.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
