Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Weak supporters consistently turn on their own when the pressure is on rather than unite and fight.

Sound familiar?

Really, we consistently turn on our own?

Like when we raised millions to cover our debts? like when we stuck by the club through 7 years of 'list development' that has netted us nothing but wasted draft picks? like we got through 186 and 148 and tanking allegations and sponsorship dramas and racism allegations and Jurrah and Scully and the death of our beloved president?

Like how we all fail to truly support a club that has failed miserably on so many fronts for so long?

Because I don't see anybody here demanding anything unreasonable, nobody is microwaving their membership, dumping chicken [censored] at AAMI Park. We want to be successful, we want to stop being so poorly handled, dragged through the mud every week, and then perform pathetically on the field.

If you don't want something better for our club than what is happening right now, in front of you, than you are weak. Because seeing something wrong and doing nothing, is worse of all.

I didn't read it as being about the 7.30 Report as such, but about his performance during the presidency.

That's the way the thread started. You are too untrusting. Sleep with a gun under your pillow Stuie?

No gun, have a pitch fork under yours?

Again, you've got NFI. Not even worth trying to explain because people like you just don't get it. Keep up your spamming every thread though if you think its gonna make a difference (hint: it won't). You're like the preacher yelling and banging on the pulpit to compensate for the complete hollowness of his words.

So along with your previous post which was "NFI", that is your contribution to the topic? And I'm the one spamming?! Wow.

Doing something just because you don't know what to do doesn't make it right.

The press came after Hird and the Bombers supporters rallied behind him and the club. Now they come after our club and we go "yeah!! sack him! sack them all!!!!".

Weak.

Weak.

Hird and the Bombers board have a track record of doing okay for their club.

Our board and our FD have a track record of completely [censored] destroying it.

One is totally against the trend, the other is totally in line with it. This is the last straw for many, myself included.

McLardy has been in the gun long before this latest saga. He leads the board, and yet here we are at another "please explain" moment from the AFL. Like we don't have enough to deal with. The way he fumbled through CS sacking, was enough to tell me that he isn't strong enough to take us anywhere worth going. He may have good intentions, but he isn't right for the job.

And please, if anybody at our club even came close to commanding the respect of the players and supporters the way Hird does at Essendon, we'd be a lot better off.

Why don't our players rally behind our coach, hey Stuie?

Talking about evidence in this matter which is seeing SO many lighting their torches and grabbing their pitch forks.

Geez I hate the bombers, but it's interesting to see the difference in the supporters reactions.

I started writing a considered reply to this three times and then erased it.

If members calling for McLardy's head after the culmination that was today's events is 'torches and pitchforks', but you calling for the coach's head every week is 'standing by your club', then so be it.

I haven't the patience to engage in an argument with someone whose only strategies are sensationalism, insults and GIFs.

Yep, spamming every topic critical of the admin just like prior to Schwab's sacking - how'd that one work out for you?

As a Melbourne supporter I was extremely disappointed we had to fire our CEO, however I said from the start I trust the club to work out what;s right and then do it.

But I'm sure you were one of the many "supporters" who cheered when we had to fire one of our own. Good on you, really gutsy.

There have been an awful lot of mistakes made by both the MFC, both on and off the field.

However, that is not evidence that they have done anything wrong in this particular case. To claim that previous mistakes are proof that MFC was involved with Dank in illegal/inappropriate activities is rather poor reasoning. Let's wait to see how this plays out.

But if we are found to be guilty/negligent in this case, God help us.

Surely the fact that we're questioning faith in McLardy at all is mostly heightened by his past dealings of ineptitude, rather than merely the Danks issue. At least for me anyway. The longer this season goes on, the more I want the AFL to take over our club, because think of the instability brought about by losing your CEO and your President in a matter of weeks. We need some sort of security and the AFL can provide us with it. Ultimately, McLardy and his board have to go. I think it's probably untenable now and it has to come before season's end - I think McLardy's resignation probably was anyway.

There are facts regarding McLardy's performance, you just continue to ignore them.

As an exercise, if Don were the coach, what do you think his Win/Loss ratio and percentage would be?

About how the voting is going, is my prediction.

I think it's called arrogance. It's never too far away where an Essendon supporter is concerned. They've also got a little more to look forward to on field at the moment. This is just another kick in the guts for the supporters and paid up members like myself. The tanking investigation and now this.

You're still managing to miss my point.

Most here are so quick to yell "sack him! sack him!" as soon as something pops up, BEFORE it's substantiated in ANY way.

That is the essence of being weak as a supporter base.

I'm not saying is Don is good, I'm not saying he's untouchable, I'm saying grow a friggin pair and stand by your club while others are trying to tear it down with baseless rumours.

Oh nooooooooooooo facts!

http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2013-04-18/response-to-730-report

Now what will we do??!

'stuie', the facts in this release tell us the club has not been honest. Technically yes they can say Dank was not employed by the club on the payroll at least but he was in fact working in some capacity. It's this sort of stuff that gets us in deep water and it's why I'm happy to see our last CEO gone, this is just not acceptable.

Nah mate, I totally get your point.

Unfortunately this latest incident is based on the false premise that we had had nothing to do with Dank (because we said he wasn't 'officially' employed by the club) when in fact he had been working with the club doctor and certain players until the day of the Essendon press conference.

It seems that at the moment, no-one is saying we did anything wrong with the things we were trying. However, if we did nothing wrong, why not just tell the WHOLE truth. It's very obvious that the AFL were going to find out Dank was working with us, so why try to hide it?

This statement should have been made weeks ago, when the Dank saga first broke.

Instead we tried to [censored] the AFL and the press in a hope no connection would ever be validated. Jesus Melbourne.

What disasters have been directly the board's fault?

False racism accusations? No. Jurrah troubles? No. Jimmy passing? No. Tanking? Maybe, though that's a very grey area. Winning games? Not directly the responsibility of the board.

Why did so many call for Schwab to be fired if it was the board's fault all along? When will your sacking hunger be satisfied?!

IF YOU START ARGUING WITH "FOOLS" QUITE QUICKLY PEOPLE ARE UNABLE TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE.!!

Clearly there are people who have to be held to account for all of the current situations at MFC - it's not a witch hunt - we need facts and then actions based on facts. We need to fix the problems and not be obsessed with blame - just get on with it quickly before it gets worse!

Anything any member wants is good governance and transparency for its members and supporters.

This club needs to be as transparent as ever. Always.

The one thing you don't do is withhold or mislead. If you do you must be held to account.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
