Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I have been told that Jamar has been told that once Gawn is ready he is out of the team. That would explain why it looks like he doesn't care and his hitouts do not go anywhere. He is now basically a back up to Gawn and only to come in if Gawn needs a rest/gets injured.

I watched interestingly at the qtr tine break, Neeldy marched straight up to Jamar and by the body language gave him a fair old spray....

Obviously didn't help. Terrible start to the year for the Russian. Does not look interested.

Tim Harrington the list manager was crowing when he re-signed Jamar for a further 3-years. Though at the time, besides himself, Gawn was and still is injury prone, Spencer is an absolute dud, so there was no-one else.

There was Stef Martin.

"Hitouts" is the most useless stat in the game. What good is winning a hit out if it doesn't go to our advantage? None.

He had one kick today which was ineffective. He has had ONE effective kick for the year. Get Spencer in of put Clark in the ruck, Jamar is not only poor he is actually a liability to the team.

Totally agree. Absolutely liability. The midfield is where it's won and lost. If we can't get first possession on the footy, it's all futile.

Agree on Jamar, but Davey's been surprisingly good in his two games this year. We just need to expect a lot less of him these days.

Davey's been good, but cannot hold his tackles anymore. I'd keep playing him, but only out of a lack of options. Davey will always be a superb kick too.

If this is true, Jamar would not offer enough around the ground to play second string. We can't sit him in the forwardline and expect him to kick goals. ND and DB tried that. It didn't work. He's done, yet we have to pay out his contract despite probably serving the last year or so at Casey.

It's about respect.

Obviously you have none.

I find it difficult to respect ridiculousness.

Do you honesty think it's not fair for anyone to comment negatively on anyone or anything if they have not had first-hand experience in that area?

Of course, if you did, you would also not be able to comment on Jamar, as, since you've never played AFL football, you would have no idea what a good football player is, right?

Your argument was pathetic, and based on the fact that you disagreed with the view that Jamar's no good. If you disagree, then explain why you disagree. Don't tell a person they can't comment because they haven't played AFL football.

Brad Miller

Lol. The list goes on.

To be honest (off-topic, I know), it's such an indictment on where we've been the last 6 years. You have to wonder whether or not any of Dunn, Bate or MIller would have made it to 100 at any other club.

He and Royal are the big issues with the Melbourne midfield. His work rate is atrocious. He doesn't get to contests. He's too slow. He offers nothing up forward. He taps generally straight to his feet. Rarely marks those kick ins on the back flank. He needs to go. Bring in Spencer. Gawn should be brought in once match fit. A hopeless decision to re-sign him for three years.

Correct. I don't know if its been posted yet but the effort from Jamar when the ball was coming in long and deep into the square at one stage late in the game was absolutely pathetic. He just had to run an extra ten metres to take a grab or maybe force it to ground. Instead he just spectated.

The laziest ruckman in the league right now. Needs to move aside as soon as Gawn is fit.

Well that's just a wonderful team orientated attitude.

We'll go places with that.

Watched him closely all day. At a kick in he would jog and not demand the ball. When Mitch and Sylvia would lead players would kick to the One on one contest because they would demand the kick to them. Jamar was pathetic. For two years he has been afraid to kick the ball. Even I'm front of goal he would look to handball.

Mitch was our only reliable big man out there today.

Jamar and Sellars for that matter are not worthy of an AFL game right now.

Let us hope that Dawes will add something to that glaring inadequacy.

How about let Jamar have a run in the 2's V gws and get Gawn into the action....sadly won't happen cos Neeld loves Spencer.

Jamar has been washed up for a while now. Yet another blunder by Neeld's Demons to offer him the 3 three year deal. Apparently he was very quick to sign. About as quick as Neeld was when offered the Melbourne Job.

After saying all that he's been a great servant to the Demons and deserves more respect than some of these posts...dazzling Davey included.

If all he can do is get around half of the total taps and basically just tap to his feet, why the f is he playing? Can't mark, can't kick, cant hit to advantage, can't stop his opponent. 10 years of mediocrity + 1 good year. I'd rather see Spence give it his all and get beaten than watch Jamar capitulate.

Max Gawn, come on down!

how about go into GWS with Magner, Gawny up forward with Clark and Watts chf. Spencer to start in Ruck changing on interchange/Deep Forward Pocket with Gawny. OUts obviously include our "Russian" he may benefit from a couple of runs in the two's, a rest for Toumpass and Garlo.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
