Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Why don't we just play Sylvia on the ball where he is at his best?

That's it really last chance for young Col. We need him as a mid at this stage of our list development. We can't continue to give players easy outs who should be playing premium positions. He just needs to stand up and show some leadership, by working his butt off. The tools seem to be there. As a marking mid he could be a matchup nightmare, but alas...

I've also noticed that Col is almost universally in any photo the club posts of sick kids in hospitals etc. Think it is a bit rough to label him as someone who doesn't care about people.

Go nuts about his compete lack of care on the field, but he doesn't seem to be a bad bloke off it.

I have a friend whose son has been involved with the Reach Program. Col has acted as a mentor on a number of occasions and I only heard good things about him. I think he is a good bloke too but obviously not firing on the field at the moment.

im new to this forum and i will probably get shot down by some members of the keyboard army, but fcuk it,here we go..

i want Mark Neeld to stick Colin Sylvia on the half back flank this weekend v West Coast.

Woosha will play Hurn on Col if he is in the forward line and after a quiet game by Shannon last week, he is gonna tear Colin a new asswhole.

i say put Col on the half back flank and make him accountable, but give him the freedom to run from behind the ball and use his disposal as a focal point (aka EMULATE Shannon Hurn)

in return id drop Gillies and put Rodan to use his experience on Hurn in a run with..

thats my thought..

I don't mind the Sylvia idea off a back flank, or off the wing from the defensive end with instructions to push deep into our defence, to help bring the ball up... play Tapscott forward rotating from the bench.

drop Nicho & Watts & bring in Pickles & Strauss..

I'm worried about Rodan in a run with unless he rotates off, & only plays 3/4trs... I don't think he has the tank to go the whole game.

Also I'd like to see Rohan Bail fit in somewhere, so maybe Rodan should be sub.

We need Fitness, Run, & Games Experience as a must.

Maybe putting him down the half back line is a good place to start, after all the ball will be down there more often. In years gone by when melbourne did have a reasonable team (probably well before most here were born) a lot of their run was generated from the half back line. in more recent years Davey used to do this for us, but we dont seem to have anyone able to really kick off a counter attack. Maybe Sylvia could.

I'm a hard marker regarding Sylvia but he was good today and not just when we were going well but when it got tough.

He never gave it up and this should be his minimum standard for the rest of the season.

I thought that Sylvia's game yesterday was one of his best for a while. If the other 21 showed as much we probably would of won!

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
