Jack Watts Thread

Jack Watts - 2 kicks for the day as spare man.

I need an explanation for that.

Inate softness can't be cured. He simply has no desire to win and from his own mouth doesn't care about losing. Worst number 1 pick of the decade.

Joke. No explanation. Not like he actually played on anyone.

I watched him closely today. He genuinely lacks any intensity whatsoever. Please, no one give me that crap about him being better in time than Nic Nat. Would make the swap in a heart beat.

I would swap him for a lock of NikNat's dreadlocks.

He is as soft is the day is long. As simple as that. Will have his good days when he is allowed to play his way, but that isn't anywhere near enough.

no appetite for winning or for a contest, happy to just be known as an afl player

Why not move him around today if being the spare man was not working?

That's exactly what I said, however Neeld made no changes around the ground whatsoever!

Well lets hope they go hard and drop him for next week then

The only time he showed intensity was when the defenders huddled after every port goal and he looked to spray all his team mates. Can't believe when the game was over in 3rd and Clark injured that Neeld wouldn't throw him forward, in the guts or give him a role. Such unimaginative coaching.

I don't understand all the fixation of a few posters on here who believe that Watts:

1 will be any good and

2 get better

Even more so when watching Jack Viney get crunched, and crunched again, but he never wavered.

Having said that, he wasn't alone today.

PS Does Todd have any more kids??

I love when he gave Schulz a free run at mark of the year.

Anyone that defends this bloke, please show me one time that he attacked a pack like Schulz did, going for either a mark or spoil. Good luck.

The bearded lady.

Maybe instead of having a who can grow the longest beard contest competition they could actually focus on training and what needs to be done on game day.

Wasn't good enough today. I know Jack experienced a family loss during the week, so I will cut him some slack. But if he's going to play spare man in defence, it's obvious, but he has to get much more of the ball and use his sublime skills to set up attacks and thus influence the game.

Mate end of the day if his not emotionally up for it then dont take the field. Excuses like this shouldnt be in play here.

Its just a waste of time the role itself. If all your doing is allowing a forward to run riot then what is the point?

From what I heard today, it was a total shocker of an effort.

However, it also seems that part of the problem was Neeld's insistance on having the spare man. I hate the tactic, I don't agree with it fundamentally, and I don't understand why we continued with it when it clearly wasn't working.

Maybe if Neeld told Watts to man up on someone, he might have tried it.

Nonetheless, a terrible effort from Watts.

I'm not sure that Neeld likes this tactic either - he's just trying to find a spot for JW is proving to have everyone fooled about his perceived capabilities.

Im starting to wonder. I think it was supposed to build his confidence with easy touches.

I've defended him in the past on the basis of his skills, but I can't defend how he continually shirks contests. It is extremely costly in his newly allocated role.
