Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The probablem is that we let GL choose the bloody coach again even though he chose DB.

Thought we could have learnt from our mistake the first time but I think it will be third time lucky TBF.

Garry getting it wrong hurts a bit. But it happens. I understand that even best practice recruiting gets it wrong. What hurts is how quickly he threw his arms up and distanced himself from the whole deal. That was a real rats leaving the ship moment. He could have admitted he screwed it up and I would have forgiven him in a heartbeat, but the game isn't like that, and hasn't been for a couple of years. How do we fix that when the big boys cut and run, or blame others, at the first sign of trouble?

Do you accept that some of the anti Neeld prayer group here might also be getting some elements of their relentless criticism of ALL things Neeld-related wrong too?

Yep, that figures. Most passionate religious types seem incapable of adopting a balanced assessment of things and dealing with confronting and complex issues. IMO our situation is not straight forward, and Neeld is not to blame for all of it.

But hey - I think the world is complicated - for many others though, they like simple messages. I get that.

I think all "Get rid of Neeld" posters realise he is not the only problem but definately a big part of it RB.

There are big changes coming of which he is one along with the FD and board.

Not sure if interviewing only one person for the job is "best practice".

Hardly a surprise that you end up with a poor result when you don't go through a proper process. I'm not sure the reasons for it, maybe those on the selection committee thought they were smarter than everyone else, maybe they got dudded by Malthouse's recommendation. Either way, there needs to be accountability for a mistake that has set our club back a number of years.

I'm not sure anyone thinks MN is the only problem we've got. There needs to be a number of changes in all areas of the football club. Already the CEO is gone, and at the very least the President but more likely much of the Board will change. While that's being accountable for things that have been done poorly that doesn't mean you don't fix other mistakes that were made - including the hiring of the current coach.

GL was probably time poor and needed to hurry the process up so that he could fulfil his MEDIA commitments ds!

Based on exactly what qualifications?

GL has had two goes so it must be The Ox turn. Its only fair to share the duties.

I hear that its MN fault for the GFC as well.

He does get around causing some mischief our little MN.

Oh who said I am religious? The only thing I worship is the blue and the red.

Yes - but it's a qualified yes. Neeld is a big part of the problem, but I'm not convinced he'd be a failure as a coach at a club that wasn't completely dysfunctional. I have some hope that the work he's done may bare fruit for whoever the next coach / admin may be. But for whatever reasons the Neeld plan hit an iceburg, and I can't see how we can come back from that without major change.

It wasn't. I just meant that even when you've got all the boxed ticked it's still a judgement call. Not unlike any job interviews in the real world.

I have big questions on Neeld, as does everyone obviously - it's impossible not to in the circumstances.

I don't think he'll be the coach in 2014. I also think he's done and said some very stupid things, which he most likely now regrets.

That said, I think the next coach will inherit a much better list (structure, attitude and fitness) than what he inherited at the end of 2011 - principally due to the changes Neeld has implemented/made.

In short, I don't believe not all of what Neeld has done has been detrimental - in fact, I think some of what he has done has been very positive.

It's just a pity he seems to have lacked EQ and proper judgement in dealing with the senior players when he first arrived, and that he stormed into the MFC sheds at the end of 2011 in much the same way as Stormin Norman stormed into Iraq in 1991.

He never seemed to overcome the schisms seemingly created from that time onwards.

I am sure if we all look very hard there is some good MN has done. But does the good out weight the bad?

He admits he turned the MFC player list to crap. I seen many good MFC plyers leave the Club over the past 18 months or so. Players who would have made the team much more competative.

The guy is a legend in his own lunch box so the soon he goes the better.

When did he admit that he 'turned the MFC player list to crap'? That sounds like rubbish.

Try posting something that doesn't end with 'sack Neeld'.

No, wish I did. That is info I was told, same person told me Greg Wells will be President. He wouldn't tell me the person they are speaking to re: coaching position. Time will tell if he is on the money.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
