The players are part of (the most important part of) the club. All you are doing in this thread is proving you have NFI whatsoever about the operations of a modern day professional footy club. You've still failed to answer how Schwab has been successful considering the facilities were set up by the previous admin, the business model is unsustainable, our membership base has shrunk and will shrink again this year and the performance of the club/team has gone backwards at worst and failed to improve at best in the last couple of years. Why do you think he was on the verge of being sacked in 2011 before Bailey got the chop? Or do you think that is just more conspiracies to unseat the great man?

Here's some facts:

Our membership has NOT shrunk. It's gone up every year since 2006, albeit with a slight drop last year obviously due to our rubbish efforts ON FIELD.

Our CLUB was unsustainable before Schwab came in. Sure we have relied on donations etc but we're still here.

Schwab has overseen the addition of sponsors and in this article: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/demons-resign-key-players-schwab-20120805-23nfg.html he is praised for his handling of our business maters.

After 186 we sacked the COACH not the CEO, what does that tell you?

Bloody hell.......I'm just so over DL at the moment.....We are at each others throats..to see who can be the cattiest....and who we should blame the most......And on and on it goes......Time to take the pup for a walk and forget about footy for a while.......

answer the next question 'stuie', you're deflecting again.

To be honest, I'm not interested in answering your questions.

We have different opinions, get over it.

I don't need to defend my opinion to you.

No mate you don't because you know where this was heading and it was giving you the proof you keep telling me I haven't put up that you well know is staring you in the face every time you look at this forum.

Well you've already admitted that the CEO has an impact on the performance of the team on ground so that's enough for me. I will leave you alone.

Membership decreased last year and will again this year - that is shrinking.

What happened before Schwab is irrelevant - the business model under Schwab is unsustainable.

Sponsors have been largely gained through efforts of supporters and one in particular (Hankook) was disenfranchised and pulled his money despite being a long term supporter of the MFC.

The article you referred to he is praised by McLardy who just reappointed him - wow what a surprise!

After 186 we sacked the coach but the CEO's head was on the chopping block the day before? Why? You've failed to answer that.

As far as I'm concerned, Schwab and Connolly stuffed up this club royally when, under Dean Bailey, they stuck their beaks into the Footy Dept and tried to micro-manage. They introduced politics into the playing group and caused rifts that still reverberate amongst the players. And inevitablly, when the sh*t hit the fan, Schwab distanced himself as any politician would. Can't stand the bloke and I'm sure a lot of our players can't either. But McLardy and the board seem mesmerised by him...

Absolutely true. CS has done an amazing job keeping the club up and about commercially. Hard to imagine too many tougher gigs in footy - getting sponsors on the back of our performances.

No, he's done an amazing job at selling snake oil to gullible members.

It's okay, he's being found out now. He'll go. He's been exposed, finally.

The napkin story, every White Board Wednesday and Caro's article after 186 are all evidence that Schwab's finger prints were all over the footy department under Bailey. He then became divisive when his youth strategy wasn't panning out and we got a new coach and embarked on a completely different approach.

Anyway, the key problem with Schwab is that he is the invisible man because he has no credibility. We need a voice at a time when the rich clubs are getting richer and the poor are going the way of Fitzroy.

Why was the club going to sack him on the eve of 186? You seem incapable of answering this simple question.

There are probably a number of factors behind our current situation, but first and foremost we have a very poor list which has been, in part, handpicked by the coach and one he's called "his list". We have a huge problem getting our hands on the ball during a match and that's the fault of the coach and how he prepares and instructs the players; that in itself has nothing to do with the board or the CEO, it's a football matter.

The other issue is the Board and CEO who may, or may not, be steering us in the right direction; they should be looked at as a separately.

I don't recall Neeld or any other member of the FD saying at any stage that the were frustrated by the Board/CEO, they may be but all I've heard so far are reports from Demonlanders and Journalists. Can't we just accept the facts that we have a poor list, we've probably made the wrong choice as a coach and then try and work out how to fix that?

I understand that the Board chose the coach and they have to accept the responsibility for that, I also understand that we don't have the greatest President in the competition and the Board lack football nouse but they were the only ones who stood up at the AGM and put their names up for the positions. I'm sure that if someone else who was vastly superior to McLardy wanted the position then he could be convinced to stand aside; one thing about McLardy he is passionate about the club and wouldn't try to hurt it in any way.

I have reservations about Schwab because I personally think he puts his energy in to the wrong areas and that applies to a lot of the Admin staff at the club. I won't elaborate but they do tend to ignore those that contribute and prefer their own company.

Do you have physical proof they were going to sack him? I've heard rumours but that's all.

If it's true, what facts do you have about why they were going to?

If it's such a simple question then answer it yourself.

In the end, neither of us are on the board, so we don't know any of this.

'Robbie' it would be better if you did elaborate, you've eluded to things like this in the past and as a contributor to the club as you are it is important that you speak out on things that effect the running of the club.

He just needs to go. It's as simple as that.

That's about as far as your logic extends.

I can imagine the conversation...

McLardy: "Sorry Cam, time to clean out your desk..."

Schwab: "How come?"

McLardy: "Range Rover on Demonland said so"

Schwab: "What was his reasoning?"

McLardy: "Because he said so..."

Schwab: "Dammit, how can I argue with that logic...."

Great post. Particularly agree with the part in bold.

I'm not saying the board is untouchable, but screaming for the head of the CEO after a weak effort by the players and coach is typical old school MFC supporter rubbish.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
