what a good idea, we need representation there.

touche

Can you fix it so !

Won,t we all be lost when the footy starts and this crap is behind us.

Is there any evidence, we just don,t know?

Interesting point on draft tampering. You are right, the AFL draft tampers with its fixture, allowances, extra large lists for some, etc.

Also resting players affects matches and is draft tampering as well. Taking players off late in a game is also affecting results and would be draft tampering.

The rules and definitions are basically flawed and the AFL wouldn't, want them exposed.

Not to mention less than 6 day breaks between games.

Not to mention less than 6 day breaks between games.

Yes I covered that in the word fixture, with its myriad of advantages and disadvantages.

I think the word fixture is meant to mean " arranging a list of games " not " assisting with the fixing of them".

Hes the king of bagging people down,

Is that like tea-bagging?

i dread the thought redleg

Titan there are question marks after each of my statement. I was asking H_T questions.

I can't prove we tanked (subject to the definition) but you can't prove we didn't. That's why there is discussion. My views are in my penultimate post. That's my view.

You're kidding, right? You're saying that the fact that no one can prove we didn't tank is a reason to say we tanked?

Nah, surely you're kidding.

Surely.

First of all, there's the '3 minutes of fumbling', now it's the supposed 'tanking' in a game we actually won .

You've got to wonder whether Vlad read over the 800 pages of 'evidence' . Or maybe he did, but it's hard to imagine someone of Vlad's street smart ways letting both of these utterly absurd accusations go through .

Both the fumbling bit and 'tanking win' bit couldn't be too difficult to disprove so why on earth are they part of the 800 page dossier? Why would you weaken your own case?

We could use these 2 ridiculous 'charges' as a way of breaking down the whole case . Use their own evidence against them . All accusations contained in the 'tanking win' could be disregarded in other games that have been looked at and if they've mentioned 'fumbling' in other games then all 'actions' related to fumbling could be disregarded . (if, of course, we first disprove intentional fumbling and have the 'tanking win' disregarded)

Just use your imagination on what fumbling is connected to - one example is : we fumbled the ball, they picked it up and kicked a goal ^_^ With regards to the 'tanking win', anything they mention in that Port game (for instance, some positional moves) could therefore be disregarded in other games (losses)

If one more 'absurd' charge happens to surface then this whole saga is going to look like more of a farce than it already is .

You're saying that the fact that no one can prove we didn't tank is a reason to say we tanked?

Nah, surely you're kidding.

Surely.

Oh dear.

We might just make the magic number before this is over.

whats the magic number , ? 69 or 100 , ? i just know i cant keep up, !

Things go quickly when you're fired up. I should've been doing my real job as well...

Media scratching the surface for Dees tanking evidence

I've just slapped it on my blog as a draft.

Need to read through it all and finish it off with another par, but want to send this on tomorrow. Feedback (some of it) welcome.

Couple of spellings, Col 3 "math" was other one I saw.

Great start and the facts against the [censored] the Hun highlighted is mind boggling. How can they get away with making such false claims?!!!! Robbo dropped the week prior?! Sylvia was in middle of 3 match ban?! F me. Is there no media watchdogs?

Why is that?

It just means we comprehensively beat his teams when we played them.

We embarrassed them.

Maybe you've interpreted it a different way, but I didn't say I beat him up, or bullied him, or used dirty tactics against him.

So many people with comprehension issues these days...

Anyway, the guy was a flopper, consistently tried to milk frees, ducked his head, took short steps and was a smart arse to boot.

So that's what I think of him.

I am not sure it was every relevant what you did at bball and I did note you did said "Has been from a young age when I used to beat up on him in footy & basketball."

And you and Jay may have more in common than you think.

You're kidding, right? You're saying that the fact that no one can prove we didn't tank is a reason to say we tanked?

Nah, surely you're kidding.

Surely.

FFS, he is not saying that at all. Go and re read.

Oh dear.

Indeed.

Get set for fumbling to become a stat this season . Teddy Hopkins will be salivating at the chance to add another item to his 'Champion Data' system .

Dream team participants will be having nightmares trying to figure out which players are the 'fumble kings' . The fumbles category might end up rivaling the 'Key Performance Indicator' for top billing .

I am not sure it was every relevant what you did at bball and I did note you did said "Has been from a young age when I used to beat up on him in footy & basketball."

It wasn't really relevant, it was self-indulgent.

And if you don't understand the vernacular, it's not my problem.

But it doesn't necessarily mean what you may think it does.

And you and Jay may have more in common than you think.

A bit like you and Kim Jong Il..?

Won,t we all be lost when the footy starts and this crap is behind us.

but i am sure we will find something else to argue over ! ... well heated debate in some cases

You would have to think that it would be in Melbourne's best interest to get this matter finalized, so I would hope that they don't wait until the end of the month to answer the allegations. If they have to wait until the commissioners meeting then its out of our control but hopefully they can get it under way before then.

God knows it will reduce the angst on this board.

You're kidding, right? You're saying that the fact that no one can prove we didn't tank is a reason to say we tanked?

Nah, surely you're kidding.

Surely.

Titan put me on "ignore", you'll find it easier that way.

What? Just Titan?

No, anyone who doesn't want to read my posts. That would be good.

No, anyone who doesn't want to read my posts. That would be good.

Perhaps you should try writing letters to yourself and returning them unopened.

A bit like you and Kim Jong Il..?

Ahhh, Jose, you're back... That's the spirit.

Made me laugh out loud.

whats the magic number , ? 69 or 100 , ? i just know i cant keep up, !

The way we are going we're going to blow the first one out of the water.

Would like to think it was out of the way before we hit the NAB cup. With the evidence to date you would have to think it will be a distant memory by then.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?
Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG. Unfortunately, performances like these went against the grain of what Melbourne has been producing from virtually midway through 2024 and extending right through to the present day. This is a game between two clubs who have faltered over the past couple of years because their disposal efficiency is appalling. Neither of them can hit the side of a barn door but history tells us that every once in a while such teams have their lucky days or come up against an opponent in even worse shape and hence, one of them will come up trumps in this match.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
