the whole football public knows that at least 6 clubs 'list managed' their way to priority picks over the last 10 years or so

it also knows the afl somewhat condoned list management practices that were marginal

if the mfc end up wearing all the blame that will not sit well with fans in general when the dust settles

the afl would be deluding themselves if they think making an example of the mfc will settle the issue and make it all go away regardless of whether the penalties are heavy or light

i trust (hope) the fink will aid the afl to come up with a better solution that keeps everyone (well most) somewhat satisfied and we can all move on

Carlton will not get done whilst Fitzpatrick is leading the commission.

It won't happen.

If he thought like that he wouldnt be part of the commission, just another childish statement from WYL.

I dont think its I who's gullible here mjt, of course you have your own flavour of herrings to cook, barrow to push , flag to fly.,....you choose !!

Funny how sfa has happened to Carlscum whilst Fitzy been on watch. Thats not just my observation, nor WYL ( whos quite capable of his own vocals and thoughts , and catergorically not of mine )

To think that such things dont ever happen is quite frankly stupid.

no worries. Give me a better reason Carlton have not been targetted for the 12 week losing streak in 2007 that won them the Kruezer boy..?

They had him penciled in weeks out.

That i know from a Carlton Insider.

believe what ever you wish little man.

My source was rock solid.

We all know you wish Schwab & Conolly to come crashing down.

I am merely asking why the blowtorch has not been applied to Carltank?

Fitzpatrick is a large part of the answer thus far.

I too doubt that Fitzpatrick would let his former affiliation with Carlton affect any decision by the AFL Commision, or AFL employees.

People that constantly look at conspiracy theories, or others' motives have always amused me. I can only assume they're basing their conclusions on what they'd do under similar circumstances.

Every time you post you dig deeper and deeper, the blowtorch is not done yet, only a goof wouldnt figure that out, Fitzpatrick is a professional man, unlike you or me, your 50YRS OLD and you use phrases like Carltank and Meth Coke, how can you be taken seriously?

You have an answer for many things don't you.

And a strange slant on how you view this orb we call earth.

Why DO YOU believe Carlton have escaped any scrutiny on this issue?

I am interested to know as i am sure many 'landers are

Posted (edited)

Not just scrutiny avoided but recipients of blatant favouritism (visa deal Judd) Even Eddy can't fathom that one.

It's all Kosher and straight up and down at the AFL.

Governments , quangos, clubs and companies have all succumbed to corruption.

The IOC is built on it..... And somehow the AFL flies in clean air ?? Yeah right

I am really interested to learn what the age cut off point for the use of the terms "Meth Coke" and "Carltank" is. I would hate to make such a dreadful faux pas.

Those most keen to suggest all conspiracies and claims of corruption are rubbish often have self-interested reasons for pushing that view - usually because they support the status quo. A more balanced view is that there are many true examples as history often reveals, but clearly not as many as conspiracy crazies believe. Claims can only be judged on the evidence available. That includes lack of action as well as actions taken.

A consideration for those rushing to ridicule both the notion and by inference the noters , of any less than pristine governance and direction by the AFL is the simple reality that the whole competition and its running (at afl level ) is PURE manipulation.

So why is it really such a stretch to invite the thinking that some elements and some governors cross that line differentiating what is acceptable and what ought not be. Keep in mind it's only the AFL itself that defines not only the qualities of that line but where it exists.

The org is run by people. People are fallible. Since the year dot.

The chief of the AFL's salary is dependant on how well the AFL runs, therefore it's not in his interests to see it suffer through scandal.

Not sure old dee, but I reckon AD is a very commercial person and I doubt he will take kindly to anyone interfering with his paycheque.

I don't believe for one minute that Fitzpatrick won't do everything in his power to stop the investigation extending to Carlton and he will have a willing ally in AD who will want to close this issue as soon as he can. If this goes on and other clubs are involved the Government may get involved and it won't be suspensions it may include jail terms for fraud against betting agencies etc.

There's a lot of money bet on football and if it can be shown that betting agencies accepted wagers on fixed matches and they and punters lost because of it who knows where this will go.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
