The hardest Team to Play Against

Demonsterative

I have plenty of faith in Neeld and most of the players, I just think it will take time to go from 16th to the top. That doesn't happen overnight, and not even in 12 years apparently...

Now I've had a chance to reflect on our drafting I'm really glad we turned over the list to the extent we have. I Just wonder if Neeld had his time over again would he have been so gung-ho with the FA selections and the selection of say Matt Jones as our second pick in the ND. From postings on Demonland this selection seemed have have people scratching their heads as he more than likely would have been available in the rookie draft. I just hope this bloke warrants his selection.

By filling up the primary list in the ND it really backed the club in a corner. We had the 2nd pick in the PSD yet we could not use it. Hence goodbye Jack Hannath. I just have this feeling that the club panicked a bit early on gave other clubs an advantage in assessing Hannath and being able to gazump us because we were not smart enough in keeping our PSD pick.

A lot can happen in the 3 weeks between the ND and PSD and I reckon the club was very naive and should have retained one pick for the PSD.

In case someone says hindsight is a wonderful thing, I have felt this way all along and couldn't believe the strategy they adopted.

maybe we picked up Gillies instead of using our PSD pick? Was another team going to sign him?

I would be almost certain that Gillies would have been picked up for a senior list spot.

Keep doing the same thing over and over again and you will get the same result.

What gives me great hope is from top to bottom since the arrival of Neeld there has been a recognition of the above . From last year, dropping players regardless of reputation or seniority, recruiting mature age players, recruiters youngsters who arent project players, trading out players who in past lives we would continue to hold onto in hope of them making the grade, training harder and differently than we ever have before - these are actions of a club that recognise that we got it wrong before and this is the way forward - whether it works remains to be seen but Neeld and Co are certainly living by adage - keep doing the same thing and you'll get the same result - the MFC is doing things completely differently to try and not repeat mistakes of the past

Correction: We had the 2nd pick in the PSD but chose not to use it.

We took Terlich with our last live pick in the draft. To put it another way, we rated him higher to us than anyone who would have been available in the PSD. Hard to see where the problem is ... or could be.

They were good before that though and it was just a little 'rough patch' which deserves to be investigated imo.

Investigation by whom? The tanking inquisition or WADA?

Agree. They got 'high' very quickly.

Lol, I told my dentist I think I sufffer from trauma as a child because I never went to Lego Land - we had a family vote and everyone else chose Disney Land... (first world problems) what does my dentist do? Took his son to Lego Land this year and took a picture of every good attraction and ride then mailed it to me.

Couldn't tell if he was being nice or trying to rub salt in the wound... leaning towards the latter

My parents took my brother and I to Disneyland when I was 11 and he was 9.

Had a brilliant time. Space Mountain was the best. I had such a great time that my wife and I had our honeymoon at Disneyworld in Florida :D

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
