New home for Ricky?

We learned of the Achilles injury in the Club assessment of Petterd. No-one can play with such an injury and I suspect he has not done justice to his situation by trying to return when not fit.

If the Achilles is fully recovered (and it's a big "if") why shouldn't MFC re-list him as a rookie?

If fit, who would you prefer,Byrnes or Petterd?

Byrnes. No question.

But the fact is that Petterd is NOT yet fit.

He'll need about 70 shots to wobble through 30 for the year. Just can't see that happening.

In saying that, hope he gets another chance and an injury free run at it.

haters gonna hate...fact is he averaged more than a goal a game for us despite often taking the number 1 defender, despite our midfield delivery and despite the fact that he was in one of the most dysfunctional forward lines in the league.

Often taking the number 1 defender? And lovers are gonna love...

when the fwd line was bate, green and petterd who got the no. 1 defender?

Green generally got the "number 1" defender, or at times Jurrah got the "number 1" defender. More often than not, Petterd got the defender that matched up on him the best, which generally wasn't the number 1 defender for that team. That's why some weeks RP looked good because the best match up for him wasn't the number 1 defender for that team.

In other words, in an intra club game, Petterd would've most likely had Garland line up on him, not Frawley, who is our number 1 defender.

But, as you say, he averaged a goal a game for us. That would mean that for that bag of 4 he kicked against Collingwood, the next 3 weeks he didn't kick any. Hang your hat on that if you wish, but I'm glad he's no longer in the red and blue. I s'pose I'm a hater?

What hate? I said I hope he gets a good run at it.

My comment was more along the lines that at best he is an average kick for goal.

I saw him as a hbf forced to play ff and thought he did the best he could with what delivery he got. guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

C'

C'mon Rolly. Ricky Bob didn't even get the no.2 defender. And when did a forward line consist of 3 players?

I once liked Ricky but really. Love is also blind.

When did a forward line consist of only 3? how did our fwd line go last year without the 1 player?

I haven't seen hate here.

The sad truth is that Ricky - like others - for whatever reason - had a number of years to establish himself and all we got was the occasional glimpse of talent.

Any clubs interested in Bennell?

Old Dee will know, he's apparently gutted by #7's delisting and has been taking a keen interest in where Bennell might end up next year

I think thats because of what we picked him up for, his attitude and his injury.

In my mind achillies injuries are the worse - it plagued Cotchin for a few years - they are so trivial and debilitating.

I really hope he finds a new club, particulary Richmond. He will do well there and they obviously know about achillies, look at Cotchin's form now.

The point is that this Achilles injury has existed for the last 2 seasons. I'm sure many will have tried to perform physical activity with a sore Achilles. You can't! And obviously his confidence became shot.

I don't think we were too critical of him at the end of 2010. By that time, over perhaps 35 matches he'd played many good ones in my view. Great mark for his size, and at times a hoofing kick.kicked some excellent goals including a few at Docklands one awful day for the club, which also culminated in Petterd doing his shoulder--can't recall who we were playing.

Trivial? What does that mean?

When he first started with us he was an eye opener, ok. Not great because he was still young, but very courageous, he took the game on. Any way i wish him all the best, the only one i was really sad to see go.

Amazing how different players have a different impact on us. Personally, he was in the Top 2 that I was relieved was no longer with us.

After reading that article about Neeld in the Herald Sun last week, if those expectations and the direction in which he wants to take this club are correct, I think it would've been one of his easiest list management decisions.

What I want to see is consistency of performance from individual players - the gap and distance between best games and worst games narrowed. Herein lies our problem - I saw a few quite exceptional Ricky P games - a few being "count them on one hand". The same could be said for plethora of footballers we have had and a few we still have.

What we need is a few more Nathan Jones'. I disagree with so many on here when they point to him being close to the next step to becoming elite. I dont believe he has the natural talent to become elite. But what I love about him is over the last two years the gap between his best and worst has all but disappeared. He consistently plays the best he can play and he should be lauded because of it. Consistency and quality of performance - week in and week out. Give his best and does his best consistently - when we can get a dozen footballers plus who can make that claim then we will see wins.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
