Agree with the OP, I was a huge fan of Peter Walsh. I haven't been around long enough to have seen some of the names mentioned in this thread, but from who I've seen I love(d) watching Carroll, Ingerson, Frawley...there's a lot of good ones to pick from.

You're talking my language and era Sdemons, but I'm not sure Trevor Rollinson would make my list. I would probably replace him with Johnny Beckwith. Very hard to go past Gary Hardeman for number one billing imo: 200 odd games, a regular in the Big V, and consistently polled well in Brownlows. Small and lightly framed for a KPP but rarely beaten. CHB in Melbourne Team of the Century.

I have a soft spot for big backman - If I was a male and played footy, thats where I would want to play.

In no particular order I loved watching Nathan Carrol, Rod Grinter, Sean Wight and Matty Whelan. I also enjoyed watching James Frawley in 2011 - last year was not his greatest year but he is still young.

You hit it on the head jane,the backline is the best spot to play other than FF. Why...? Because you get to beat up on & clip behind the ear of the pretty boy forwards!

Thats why I like Sean Wight so much...not only came from Ireland..was also half scot I think and started belting the likes of Dunstall,Ablett and Salmon everytime they went near the ball!

Wight was an absolute gun!
