Freo make offer for Danyle Pearce, meanwhile we go after spuds like Rodan and Lynch

Just the player the Demons need, out of contract at the perfect time. Yet our club sits around doing nothing while an already strong Freo looks to get even stronger. We could offer way more money then Fremantle.

What the hell is going on down at the MFC?

You do realise that although Freo put in the official offer to the AFL it doesn't mean that we didn't make a play for him. What the lodgement by Freo means is that they probably have the best offer on the table, or Pearce just prefers them as a destination. It is unlikely that a formal proposal would be put forward without the players approval.

How about thinking things through before blindly having a go at the club.

I move that the thread be closed on the basis that the if the O/P is not a member of the staff responsible for managing the list of the MFC then it has no basis in fact.

If the writer of the O/P can provide evidence which supports his statement or can provide evidence of actually being an MFC member of staff then I may be prepared to accept his statement.

If there is a type of player we really don't need it's a front runner.

We do not need Pearce, would be a handy pick up for an evolved team, but not for ours.

If this system is going to work in a similar way to the NBA then a formal offer isn't sent into the league for approval unless the player has approved it. It in no way suggests that other teams haven't tried to recruit that player.

It would just be a circus if every team that had an offer for a player had to officially submit that offer to the AFL in order for the player to accept it. In that case we would have multiple clubs officially submitting offers, but which offer would the team who currently has that player have to match. It's nonsensical. I firmly believe that no formal offer would be submitted unless the player/player agents have signed off on it.

Therefore, we never know who formally made an offer to the player because we only hear the final transaction.

Look at the following article on afl.com http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/148928/default.aspx

It seems to support what i'm saying in respect to the offer process. There appears no capacity for another team to lodge an offer with the AFL once one team has lodged it's papers. Therefore this suggests that it is the offer that Pearce/Pearce's management has deemed the best.

I've been hearing all morning on SEN that Lynch has signed a 2 year deal with Melbourne and will be announced later today but there is nothing on the web about it.

God I hope It true, Lynch would be great for our club.:)

But how could that possibly be true???? I thought we were sitting on our hands and not putting any effort into getting players to the club, just like the OP said.

Danyle Pearce can run, that's about it. He is an average player in a very average side.

Lynch on the other hand is a decent key forward in a top side. Offers finals experience and a winning attitude. Apparently has good leadership qualities too. Hardly a spud.

Unless the club say that they have not offered him something then i don't think you can say that!

Just the player needed? Are you serious?

There's already more than enough inconsistency and erratic on the list.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
