If you are going to start a topic please give the whole context. He was asked if a team in a position of playing finals wanted him to play what does he think? He said he was retired but never say never. I recorded it and just watched it. After he left hutchy asked wallet if he thought green would get an offer. Wallet said maybe only a couple of clubs and talked about gws and a couple of contenders.

Green was asked what he thought was jacks best position, to which he said forward. He said watts needs to put on more strength and size and that watts is an elite kick.

i went straight to the relevant bit, i wasn't that interested in what wots best position was. i thought it was significant that Green didn't rule out another season straight after 'retiring' on 254 games. i am well aware others would have watched channel 9 telly dot dot dot

fwiw I don't think Green's latter career lack of form would discourage a team like Sydney:

Greeny dosent have another useful season in him.He was dropping marks on a lead where he once could stand up in a pack and hold them. He's been missing goals he used to kick for several seasons now,he's slowed down even though he was never quick and he bends for the ball like an old man.

I hope he finds an assistants job in a lesser league before maybe coming back to the big time off field.

And yes Watts all the atributes to be a Goodes type except, it seems, the competitive outlook .Born and bred in Brighton one expects to succeed ,dont always expect to have to risk everything for success though.

I don't give a flying fcuk if they were born in Managatang, Brighton or Timbuktu..... as long as they commit to being the very best they can be and deliver on this within the Neeld framework. Otherwise, who cares?

(Although I read that Timbuktu is now under Taliban control, so it'd be pretty tough to get on an AFL list from there)

I saw Watts' defensive move just a short-term thing to improve his ball use, get his hands on the ball and just make him work harder. Ultimately he will be a forward or out of the team. He's probably still the second best set shot behind Clark

What on earth does the fact that he was brought up in Brighton got to do with his lack of or desire of competitiveness. The need to compete at a certain level comes from within and whether he comes from Brighton or Boronia should not be a factor at all.

Nothing wrong with Sandy-and I actually think it's Cheltenham anyway as I've seen him there before a couple of times.

And it's Hookah pipe-which is a little thing but it could be a big thing to a Hooker.

The Brighton thing was a stereotypical cliche and as such was not meant to be objectively 'true' (stereotypes never are), but I'd wager everyone knew what I was saying.

Whether the inference was correct, or whether people agree is besides the point.

For the record I'm aware that Robbie has worked very hard over his life to raise a family and move to Brighton.

I know this because we fought endlessly over on Ology (mind you I wasnt the only one) and my last post was an attempt to let him know that those fights were on the General Board over there,not over football, they were in the past and that I have no wish to start again..

Now about that Timbuktu thing. It seems to me that if one got to the coast, got on a boat, got to Christmas Island,then Nauru,got into training while one waited and then made an AFL list then there would be a story that left LJ's for dead.

Anything is possible if you can get to the 'lucky country' where most of us cruise, while the determined ones have endless possibilities whether they're elite or not.
