I belong in the camp of Beamer and our 2nd round pick for Boak.

If that doesn't work, Beamer and our mid first round compo pick for Boak.

Can he be included in a trade seeing hes a free agent?

He won't be traded. He's a Free Agent. I have my doubts that we'd offer what Port is willing to, so he is free to walk.

AFAIK, he can, but Port would be stupid to do so.

I think it would be a pity to see him go because he's been a staunch and loyal Demon for many years and would give a lot to the Power.

I suppose it's part of the changing football landscape.

He gave us bugger all this year...

hopefully their is a bidding war for him to his value goes up and better compensation for us.

then he ends up at GWS and points yells at them all summer and makes Scully cry.

Im in that camp

Great bloke. Has bled red and blue for 6 years up until 2012. One bad year and he is gone.

Rewind to the end of 2012. B&F club champion. He spoke about how you can play for the club or ^&%#$% off.

How fickle we are? Is it a club ... or a business? Don't complain about Scully etc if you offload Beamer after one poor year. Aaron Davey has had 3 shockers !!!

Its a bit disappointing to see though, club champions fall from grace.

Ill be sorry to see him go because of what he has given us prior to this year but in the whole scheme of things its for the best.

I would imagine it would be in Port's best interest to try and get suitable compensation for losing Boak. By trying to "outbid" us to get Moloney could see them paying overs. If they want the best for their Club, they would listen to a Moloney & Draft Picks trade offer from Melbourne.

If he was unrestricted, different story obviously.

I doubt we'd get a compensation pick. Would we?

I believe we would, dont no exactly but its something to do with the amount he gets to what our compensation will be.

I think we would, but I think they are a lot less generous with compo picks with FA, so it probably wouldn't be much more than a late second rounder.

I am keen for him to stay though.

According to afl.com.au

A player has served eight or more seasons of AFL football at one club, is one of the top 25 per cent highest-paid players at his club, and is now out of contract for the first time since reaching eight seasons of service. (restricted free agent)

The player is eligible to field offers from all rival AFL clubs.

If he wishes to change clubs, the player must decide on the best offer of his choice from one rival club.

His club has the right to match the presented offer.

If the club matches the offer, he may choose to remain with his original club, seek a trade or enter the Draft.

If the club does not or can not match the offer, the player can move to the new club of his choice.

His original club will receive a compensation pick for the loss of the player, on an AFL-determined formula to apply where clubs lose more free agents than they gain in any single transfer period.

I agree with Jurrahcane. Plenty of good players have one bad year. If he has the hunger to bounce back I hope we retain him.

Junior I doubt it has escaped your notice but we have a poor list.

Changes have to be made, if we cling to every player who once played good games we will stay anchored to the bottom.

For whatever reason Moloney has been poor this year.

His contract is up

He is a restricted fee agent

This will be his last contract

He obviously sees his future else where or his agent would not be putting out stories from early this year.

I think he has played his last game in the Red and Blue sad but that is AFL in the 21st Century

Yes we would, however, that would be negated if we bought in a free agent

Lose a player to free agency, you gain a pick. Bring one in, that's seen as compensation enough

I'd like Beamer to stay personally

I think he has good football left in him despite a poor year and there will be enough changes to the list and lost experience as is

didnt i read somewhere that Moloney has only been at the dees 6 years? Which would not make him a RFA as it needs to be 8? I know I am wrong here somewhere but not sure where...

Form is everything on Demonland. If you are out of form then very few people on here will stick by you. Regardless if you have been a good loyal player in the past or not.

Such is demonland.

Moloney plays like he has O.P. Tries his guts out but his body wont let him.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
