It's a real conundrum this because he is our best tagger and leads our tackle count.

But....too one dimensional for mine, it's like we are always playing one short in the centre square.

Adelaide showed why you need strong hard running skilled ball winners, not just taggers.

By playing taggers such as this kid we are admitting defeat before the game even begins. We are automatically down 1 player in an 'attempt' to reduce them by 1 player.

By playing him

Us -1 player 100% of time

opposition -1 player 50% of time (When mckenzie does a good job)

Odds are against us by using him

It appears that he's doing a roll that has been asked of him. That being a one-trick stopper. In the past when he's been given a wider roll, he's shown other abilities.

He is a good tackler, and we have a distinct shortage of those.

Just when I thought we were running out of players to bag, up comes Soidee with McKenzie; perhaps we could start a thread bagging Clark for his less than stellar second half of the season, or Jones for constantly falling one or two short of the 30 possessions per game mark.

Lets not waste our time talking about Jordie. He is doing his job and doing it well. Plenty of others who don't and worse can't.

You have to be kidding. Has obviously been told to kick more. His handballing is actually very good, and he tackles ferociously. And as Sam Blease would say, he always cracks in and has a crack. Will be a required part of this team for at least the next 2-3 years, easily.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was part of a Melbourne premiership team. After all, Geelong won 3 premierships with Ling......

Why is that "unfortunate" OD? Not every player will be a superstar or even outstanding (even in a premiership team), but it can be argued that McKenzie's role is a very important one, and if he does it well (which he does), then he is a vital cog in the machine.

Fair enough OD, but after seeing Jones' improvement in all facets of his game in the past 3 years, I see no reason why McKenzie can't apply himself and raise his standard as well.

You seem to blame him for the fact that he's only playing to the one-dimensional role he's been asked to play by the coach.

He also seems to be under orders to kick more and handball less, for whatever reason. Which also blunts his effectiveness at clearances.

I agree that it's admitting defeat and that it means we're one short for getting clearances.

But it seems to be what Neeld wants him to do. In the process, it makes him a more limited player than he looked last year. Hopefully, it's for his ultimate good, rather than to fatten him up to trade or delist.

He busts a gut for the team. As far as I'm concerned, he gets a game until he is surpassed by a better player. As it is I think he'll be a permanent fixture in the side for the next two years at least.

It was McKenzie. Eddie McGuire called it as Blease, but it was definitely McKenzie.

It's not his fault our midfield is shizen and we have to be excited over a tagger but that is the case.
