Why is it that Green retires and there are immediate rumours regarding GWS, yet Tarrant, who still looks in pretty good nick, isn't rumoured as a possible signing?

I think GWS would benefit from a strong, experienced player that can play forward AND back.

Plus I'd love to see how quickly Eddie changes his opinion about how good a bloke Tarrant is if it happened.

Tarrant would love to end his career with a flag. And he's hoping to hell it ends that way. What a great send off that would be to end your playing days. He's playing for a top 4 team, probably on decent coin. Has already tried the interstate club swap, went back to where he started.

Green plays for a cellar dweller bunch with little hope of rapid climb. If he can't get success, he might as well chase the dollars. May get an assistant coaching gig, like Junior. Green's more of a planner than Taz, wants to coach, apparently.

He's getting old man injuries that take longer to recover from, if he was gunna play on, he'd do another year at the Pies.

As I understand it Tarrant came back to Collingwood on a much lesser contract than he was on at Freo and less than his market worth. Apprently he was keen to end his career at Collingwood. I won't be at all surprised however if that is it for him and he ends up on their coaching staff next year or in some other capacity working for the CFC. Nudge! Nudge! Wink! Wink! hey Eddie

And why pray tell do we actually care on this site?

I would actually prefer Tarrant to Cloke. 90% cheaper, could provide a solid player for 1 yr and give us time to develop Davis and Tommy Mac further.

Adding a player to the list who wont be around for a finals campaign seems detrimental.

Is that why the Pies are edging him out?

Compensation?

Taz has been injured all year, struggling.

GWS would be looking at Green as a better option I'd say.

I agree with most with Taz ahead of Choke.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
