This selection should be left up to the supporters, the football department have had their chance now it should be ours.

All in favour of Wines?

If our guys believe he is the best player available when it is our pick then take him. He's 202cm tall and the new ruck rule will suit him to a tee.

Grundy has only played against kids.....When your 202cm tall you should be taking all the marks and dominating the play....Young rucks will take time.....I would be very disappointed if we took Grundy.......

wonder who BP would draft at #4

After BP gig at Carlton i bet he gets a cooshie radio gig as something like

"THE DRAFT KING"

"ALL TIME BEST DRAFTER"

Wallace did it

I'll be shattered if we select Grundy.

We need a 14 year 250 gamer, champion midfielder

Yeah cos it would be shocking to land a 14 year 250 gamer, champion ruckman instead

Based solely on the photos of each I hope we don't take O'Rourke, looks like another Cale Morton waiting to happen.

I like that you can make a drafting decision just from looking at a photo.

Fairly certain he has played seniors (5 games?) for Sturt this year. So, thats just wrong. Also most of the comments I have seen is that he is very strong overhead.

I am not saying that I want MFC to take Grundy, but you are making it seem like he is going to be a dud of a player, that is going to take time to come on. From everything I have seen (google can be your friend, ...try it some time) he is seen as ready to go in 2013, and when the comparisons are likened to Dean Cox and that he is potentially a better player than Kruezer, I just think you need to think some more before posting.

BTW OT for a Wines thread. Apologies mods!

Haha yeah I know - what I meant was he looks like another of these skinny kids whose frame will see them struggle to add muscle/size - compared to Wines who looks ready to go and in another 3-4 years will be a tank.

Actually, if he had he wouldn't have done nearly as poorly.

It took Cox a fair bit of time....Sandilands was a liability in his first few years.....I not saying Grundy will be a dud all I'm saying is that he will take time....I have thought about it....I don't believe he will pay many games next year.....Potential is a hugh word at this time of year........Just my opinion.........Differs to your's...big deal they are just opinions......

Who would you prefer?

Just about any time of day.

I'll be surprised if we don't get him.

I can see Cometti at home drafting his "off the cuff" phrases.

Wines combines with Sellars who spills it to Glass-How appropriate!

Wines has got a young Shane Crawford/Scott West/Ben Cousins look about him. They all started in a forward pocket and did well because they knew how to get to the fall of the ball. I suspect Wines will have a similar impact before he gets a permanent run in the middle.

Great reader, superb hands, but not sure about the foot. Looks accurate without being penetrating.

No, he doesn't. Crawford was 174cm and Cousins 178cm. They were both quickish smalls that started as small forwards, but Wines is 188cm and a big bodied contested mid.

I see no correlation whatsoever.

I liked the way he sharked the ball. If he doesn't get a run on the ball straight away, I see him as a forward option.

Don't be such a pain in the arse H - I watched a 2.30 video and made a comment. I have no idea how big he is, I have better things to do than analyse junior football.

Not so.

If he had have done that, he wouldn't have taken Cook.

Even bigfooty "experts" knew it was far too early a pick for him.

Yeah, I knew when I posted it it was one of my shitter wise cracks.

I just pray that this hole tanking thing can hold off till after the draft.

i shall quote the heraldsun.

One club scout recently said if Wines landed at Melbourne there would be "explosions" in the centre square, adamant the pair were the toughest inside midfielders in the draft pool.

That is the first and most important thing at the moment. Looking likely as no charges yet and Defence will take a long time to get ready.

Saw Silvagni at a Restaurant last night and nearly wanted to ask him how Tom was going and who they were taking 1,2 & 3.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
