Dean Galea

As Neeldy has mentioned numerous times, our team clearly requires another big forward that can assist Mitch up front. After watching him numerous times in the vfl, i believe that Dean Galea could prove to be a handy pick up with a late or even rookie pick. He has a ready made body for afl, as well an aggressive attitude that enables him to crash packs with ease. I understand that he is already in his mid 20's, however, he could be a quick fix for our obvious hole, like Podsiadly did for Geelong.

I agreee... the forward line is definetly a weakness we have... why not rookie list him as a back up option? ever since clark and to some degree stef martin went down we don't have a key forward target to hit up... Pods and dickson from bulldogs were key forwards who have made it at AFL level... why not give him ago? a strong contested mark, quick off the lead and good kick for goal?

Galea is VFL ... 188cms, HFF size, not quick, good contested mark, good kick, no defensive pressure. pass pass pass

Two characteristics that we desperately need. wouldn't be losing much by using a rookie pick, if it doesn't work out so be it, at least he won't be the worst pick we've ever made

Only 188cm. No thanks

Just because you're not tall doesn't mean you can't break packs! he has a strong frame, thats what it takes and also to back yourself in!

No defensive pressure

I think neeld would knock that out of him pretty quickly!

I love this guy, always boots at least 3 goals every game, and is tougher than a two dollar steak.

Loves the contested footy, and loves hurting people.

Rookie list for mine.

How is this thread still going. Imagine Galea up against Darren Glass, do you think he has a hope in hell out bodying him? Then the ball hits the ground, who's going to be first to swoop and pick it up, it won't be Galea.

No worries, who plays on Clark then. Have seen this guy play a few times, has ability, it may have been other things that have obstructed his ablility to make it at the next level and they may still exist.

As a 3rd marking option Galea would hold his own and kick 30-40 goals I have no doubt. He has great hands, a good kick and one out he beats opponents of all sizes. Most of these opponents are AFL listed (young & old).

I've seen him play many times and his body work is second to none. With Clark and Dawes likely to get the best 2 defenders Galea would very handy.

Maybe ask Tom Gillies about him..

Go back and read the thread. Reasons why he would not cut it at AFL level have been said numerous times.

In a few words - too slow and about as athletic as my grandmother.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
