Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Ok so lets just lie down belly up and watch the sponsors run to our aid....

Now it's sponsors... Aren't they signed on for a few years? Oh [censored], I forgot about the 0 dollar bonus they give us if we beat Gold Coast.

Members, kids, free agents, sponsors, rugby converts, boat people, Ewoks... no one will love us if we win that spoon.

Its Einstein,,Mr Gump.

I could explain it again and again and you would never understand. Rover has already highlighted it but like most simple issues it passes along the highway over your head.

Yeah right. That says so much Rhino.

You are a twisted little man and you enjoy it.

Range and i are not that far apart and what you think doesn't bother me at all.

It all helps Dee, i don't find it funny as you do. The sponsors we got this year were a gift and we were very lucky.

Don't push it.

I think tpm will donate a pair of thai fisherman pants to the club if we finish last

get the whole team to autograph and make a motza on ebay

I laughed.

But I must disagree, Thaipantsman is all about winning, I doubt the spoon is worthy of fishing pants. Maybe some rotten bait.

I'm going to change my tip in that thread to Gold Coast by 1 billion points, just to [censored] off WYL.

It does bother you. You always take the bait....and you enjoy.

And please dont infer your sad disposition on others. Fools no one.

Range and you are opposed on this. And it would be a worry for Range for you werent that far apart. But on his bad days.

The sponsors we got this year were a gift and we were very lucky.

When you dont understand WYL, melodrama does not hide it.

Its a good point about sponsors. They are a gift, we were lucky and a short term gift at that. You really have had too much sun if you think some cheap irrelevant wins against fellow crap teams somehow glosses a year where the MFC represented something you would be quick to flush away.

I trust the sponsors as part of the gift actually buy the polyester MFC jumpers you speak of.

I can't believe that we should, in anyway or for any purpose, accept defeat. We have been down that track before. It maybe that a win over the expansion clubs doesn't count for much but it's a hell of a lot better than a loss. Strong clubs play their guts out to win every time, regardless of who is on the paddock. We must build a culture of strength. Talking defeat, thinking defeat, not caring about defeat just enhances the poor culture we have.

We as members must demand and expect 100%.

Thankyou. At least some people realize what this club should be doing.

Great, so when so many people like myself take their kids to the footy tomorrow and we roll over again I then have to plead with my own children to stick with the club. Even my kids ask why should I barrack for a team that always loses? I couldn't care less about top draft picks I care about winning.

We won't win too many games in the next decade with our current midfield. Your kids won't ever support this current midfield in ten years time. I know it's failed before, but this draft is paramount and receiving pole position will more than likely set us up for the next decade or more.

One of my professions is sports coaching. I was coaching yesterday at a school who had their footy jumper day. We had a group of 22 kids. Not one of them was Melbourne. This is an affluent school too. That trend will continue unless we draft quality mids, like we've never seen in my twenty-five year life. I know it seems hopeless now, but it's really not as bad as it may seem. Fix the midfield over the next year or so, acquire another tall forward to help out Clark and we're well on our way.

Point taken. But we will get good high picks anyway, even if we do win some games this year.

I understand where you're coming from WYL, but the higher the draft pick, the less likely you are to stuff it up.

So in your "professional" capacity, do you coach teams to win, or do you take the badminton approach and deliberately knock a few into the net to gain some supposed advantage?

You're right - we must pick correctly, but we must shift heaven and earth to get Cloke.

Marketing, respect, strategy, support, (the right) publicity, coupled with Viney and a big year from Mitch and we're on the way.

Just like last time hey. We have stuffed many a high draft pick already and the players we already have get sacrificed.

If I was on contract to for three years and my team wasn't up to it, I'd experiment and see what my cattle could do. If one or two of them prove to be highly efficient in a position, then there'd be less need to look elsewhere. If you simply don't have the cattle you could into damage mode. This involves attempting to limit damage.

And as for the "badminton approach", no. The argument has never been that the players are tanking. It's that the coaches or admins are. I truly believe we've been so ordinary this year, because a) we're not up to it B) our fitness is not up to standard and c) injuries have taken their toll.

Agree in some respect. But we need a midfield otherwise Cloke will be both redundant and ordinary. That said, we have shown in numerous games (particularly in the second half of the season) that we are capable of creating inside 50s, but have lacked a target.

So should Melbourne go flat out to win every remaining game or not?

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
