There was no bullet to dodge.

Good news.

All this says to me is that they are not going for Gysberts anymore as they wont have anything of worth,

Considering people suggest they still need to gain a pick to finish the deal with GC?

edit they may still have their first rounder

Hun reports that Geelong have secured the services of GC 'star' Josh Caddy. And they wonder why no one gives them credibility...

This article on the AFL website suggests he's gone for Geelong's mid first round compo pick for Ablett - though their trade section says to wait because apparently not finalised?

Do we actually have any concrete proof the MFC wants to trade Gysberts JT

This may be all a "Denham Dream"

Yep I went to school with him and he was a massive pr*ck to everyone. Had his head so far up his clacker it wasn't funny.

Marcellin or Eltham?

i hope so OD, i love Gysberts and think he was just unfit and injured.

people were very hard on him this year, the team struggled but he came back with everyone else up and about after half a season, imo has ALOT still to offer

Mods can we close thread he is of no further interest to us and is a Board clogger!

Sure, coz caddy will just slot into the Geelong midfield....

Marcellin or Eltham?

Marcellin, he went to Eltham for year 12 so that he wouldn't have to play for the school.

Eltham College or Eltham High?

Gee it's lucky we didn't end up with him, we all know Geelong only picks up one dimensional spuds.

I think it was Eltham College, don't quote me on that though. It makes sense as he would have been playing against a better standard in the TAC cup than the AGS competition which Marcellin plays in, and they made it compulsory there to prioritise the school over other teams.

Hey ... I played AGS ...lol, yeah can be so-so. Assumption always seemed a world apart come footy though.

26 year old, can't get a game with Richmond currently. I just wonder if we're capable of prizing him away from the Tigers with a decent offer?

Wouldn’t give up heaps for him, he is hot and cold, but when in form is a decent player. At least you know what you are getting over picking an untried kid.

but if we are chasing Langdon would we have the right pick to trade for him?

I dare say pick 2 won’t be used on either and one would prob take our second round pick and even a top 20 pick is generous. Neither super excite me. They are both solid players.

Not a bad suggestion. He’s currently excess to Richmond’s needs now that they’ve got Lynch, I don’t think he’d cost too much either.

Who would he push out of the side/fwd line... plenty. He is a very good player and stands up when needed. Can do simple things like kick and handball to team mates without turning over too often.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
