Cloke a Demon....?

Recommended Posts

with Clarke Howe and Cloke it could be very congested in the air.

I prefer the price inflation scenario that might mean a midfielder would be available. But bringing a magpie to the demons sort of doesnt feel right to me.

This is straight from a very very close relative.

MELBOURNE HAVE OFFERED TRAVIS CLOKE 9.5MIL OVER 7 YEARS. FACT !!

Ok, so if this IS true it has a few ramifications for the team.

Cloke FF

Clark CHF/back up ruck

Watts on a wing

Sellar and Morton become obsolete. Martin can be developed as a pure ruckman. Failing that he becomes obsolete.

None of this does anything for our flailing midfield.

Can you see how much improvement can come into the team if we drafted a key mid or a running back? We need a key mid period. A running back would allow us to move Grimes into the midfield.

It seems to me recruiting Cloke won't neccessarily help our team balance that much. If anything it will just be a whole lot of faffin for not much gain. The coin you state as fact is too much. I hope this isn't correct.

I would think Watts would still play alot off of the HFF more than wing, also there are two wings, and morton has played alot and shown he is capable playing inside this season, so i disagree

That is the only way we could pull Cloke from a top 4 magpies outfit imo, 1.25 a year for the rest of your career.......

No doubt we have alot of front end cap room atm, the same way we will have payed a huge chunk of Clarks salary off already, we will still have this rrom for another free agent over the next two years also.

7 year deals are crazy talk though

MFC should not even consider Cloke! Tonight, Geelong are playing more versatile players, and a lot of youngsters. They may not win tonight, but their style of play is a much better portent of the future style of play!

Take note MFC recruiters!

I'd have Shaw, Maxwell, Sidebottom, Beams, or ??? but no more Prima Donnas @ MFC!

I would have thought if any of those players deserved the tag of prima donna, it would be Shaw, who seems to crack a case of the shytes every time he is shut down. Cloke goes about his play in a very professional and workmanlike manner.

Give me the dagger but Not the Cloke.

Maxwell is a joke imo...... doesnt defende well at all, can general all the others in defence but no better, if not worse than Rivers.

seriously

Rather than cliches of prima donnas, how about we actually target good experience footballers? I am not sure why the resistance to Cloke.

YES! If we get Cloke, our team would make a huge step up the ladder immediately without a doubt.

Check out this team and tell me it doesn't look good:

Bartram Frawley Grimes

Morton Rivers Garland

Trengove Moloney Sylvia

Watts Cloke Jurrah

Howe Clark Davey

Jamar Jones McKenzie

Interchange: Viney, Magner, Blease, Green.

Just miss: Petterd, Martin, Bail, Tapscott, Strauss, Bennel, Gysberts, Taggert

Forward line= top quality. Cloke and Clark would one of the best big men combos in the league. Jurrah, Howe, Watts, Petterd, Green and Sylvia plenty of talent there. Still missing a small forward.

Defence= very solid. With an adequate midfield, this defence would be recognised as one of the best in the league imo. Garland, Frawley, Rivers and Grimes form a solid combination for next few years.

Midfield= still very weak. But we've just gotta hope Trengove and Viney can lead the way, Moloney and Sylvia show a bit of heart and that guys like Morton, Blease and Gysberts take the next step to help out servicable workers in Jones, Magner and McKenzie.

Would prefer a top midfielder here, Hodge, Stanton are free agents, and stanton is having the year of his life.

but a top midfielder whoever it is is what we need, therefore my team would look something like this...

Bartram Frawley Grimes

Garland Rivers Gysberts

Trengove Moloney ???????

Howe Jurrah Tapscott

Clark Watts Cook

Jamar Jones Mckenzie

Interchange: Viney, Magner, Blease, (Taggert or Couch)

Just miss: Petterd, Martin, Green Sylvia Davey

Davis Sellar Tynan and the rookies who knows.

Dont agree - we need at laest two seasoned midfielders to shelter our younger players until they are up to it size wise. Players that can actually spread would be helpful as well.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
