Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Moloney and Jamar on the move?

Moloney is reacting to all the crap that has been posted on him here at the forum

For those fellow neanderthals unfamiliar with the twitterverse , what did Beamer say ? I must admit i have a soft spot for the guy as he seemed keen to leave a then promising Cats side to play with his favourite team. That's unique for us in modern times !

True.

And that's why I supported the decision and still do.

It was the right one at the time.

I think not. If anything positive came out of 2011 (apart from Bailey's departure), it was the realization that Bailey's building (or re-building) strategy was not working. Talented recruits without effective leadership is the answer to the question of 'How can we waste another five years? McDonald has shown that he should have been retained for at least another season, maybe two.

Having said that, the benefit of history is that you have the opportunity to learn from it. Let's not waste that opportunity.

He didn't actually say anything, but his management said they would wait to discuss contracts until the end of the season, something about he'd be silly not to weigh up other offers given the free agency situation.

IMO, they're only pushing it to get a higher contract from MFC, knowing we have plenty of cap room and this would be the last time Moloney would be gunning for a multi-season contract.

Difference is that McDonald was performing.

After 12 years on the fringes of AFL obscurity .

.........but wasn't there a link provided in the post of "INGENIOKINETIC" to a tweet from Beamer himself ?

I think any player 28 or over should be concerned about they're security & longevity @ Melbourne, as we're om a cultural shift, following our list rebuild.

2 new Young captains & the continuing promotiion of all under 26 yrs, is sign enough of the direction we are forging.

The writing is boldly placed on the whiteboard, for all to see. If you want to play till 31, move now.

It's probably time for us to do a Hawthorn & trade where ever we can to our advantage.

Now whos looking through a half open window peering down on Us?

People just need to work out the role of a player manager. ALl player managers go around and see what other clubs are interested in there client and how much they would offer. This is there job! Not sure why all the Moloney bashing on here.

Lets paint the fuller picture then shall we.

Manager to Client... "Well... hows it going? Happy with where you are and how you see yourself in 'their' grand scheme? "

Clinet..." Well.... its not all Roses mate, place is all different and im not sure im their poster boy any more. Might be harder to get a gig and Im not getting any younger"

Mangager..." You want to pursue a new contract at Melbourne, finish up there, or shall we have a look around ?"

Client..." Maybe have a look around then"

Here we need to understand , yes a manager has a job to do. But its at the behest and instruction of his client. If Moloney wasnt thinking about it, there would be no shopping around.

After 12 years on the fringes of AFL obscurity.

Obscure to some.

When Sheedy was coach of Essendon he commented after the Melbourne Essendon final in 2004 that he was powerless to stop McDonald's clearance work. It is probably not a coincidence that the same Sheedy has now recruited McDonald to GWS.

Sheedy was probably also relieved that McDonald missed the 2000 grand final.

If Maloney and Jamar leave we can afford Dangerfield, Caddy & Stanton

Why in the hell would you want Stanton? I understand he's had a good season, but that's all. We're only six games in too.

Which team going into a period of success is going to want Moloney, considering he is going to ask big $? Would think the only team would be Essendon, but I think they have their targets on GWS and GCS returning players. All other interested teams that are short of mid-fielders and have ability under the cap are on the slide (in my opinion).

Jamar is another story: Hawthorn, Collingwood, Adelaide, Fremantle, GCS, GWS, Richmond are all teams in the cycle or improving and could do with a other first class ruckman.

This exactly. Frankly, I'd be surprised if this kind of talk WASN'T happening, especially with free agency. Knowing he is one of our best players, is in line for free agency, and is out of contract, frankly his agent would be remiss NOT to explore options, or at the very least make the appropriate noises that he is.

For all those who want the club to become more mercenary in getting contracts, this is the inevitable flipside. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
