Yep. I have always been a big supporter of Cam, but he has put himself right on the edge at the moment. He is definately on notice.

There are already 2 divisions in this league, i saw it yesterday. We are very close to being at the bottom of Div 2 without sponsors.

If there were to be changes who would you recommend for the top job??

Do you know much about Taggert?? Could he become a quality mid or is he another hopeful longshot?

No I'm notclose enough to get the chance to watch him. I've never seen him.

Look it's not the List thats the Issue, bit I think we took bottom agers, realising we needed to get extra picks quick to rebuild the list Quick.

We did, & now the teaching has just started.

So now we'll see ups & downs whilst we start to sort & settle the list.

Throw the kitchen sink at him. He sorted out Geelong, whom i suspect was probably run in a similiar way to the MFC before he shook them up.

Cam loves the MFC but he is too much of a historian. His speech at the commencement dinner told me nothing of tomorrow.

Really? Grey? We don't have a FOJ sponsor. Our major sponsor has been sacked (and even if you accept that due diligence was followed in letting Energywatch on board the buck still stops with the CEO for selecting a company owned and run by a borderline lunatic - his self published autobiography at the least should have raised some red flags). There has been rumblings that Kapersky were less than impressed with the service they received and didn't re-sign.

Not much grey there i wouldn't have thought. Red faced but not much grey. Like any business a CEO is judged on results and unfortunately the scoreboard does not look good for CS.

Oh and you don't think the CEO has a role in building unity and ensuring everyone sticks to their roles?

I think it's got to be development. The players we've picked were usually highly regarded. I think our recruitment has gone reasonably well, particularly given some of the players we've grabbed late who have actually proved to be decent AFL footballers, think Howe, Garland, Bail, Bartram. I thnk Davis and McDonald have shown a bit, Gawn could be great if he can get his body fit, Tynan looks like a decent prospect, then there's McKenzie, Jurrah, Magner etc through the rookie draft.

I could throw Bennell in there too, but I think his downfall will be his work ethic. He's got all the tools, but seems to lack something mentally. I reckon Jetta could be better for us if he can get healthy.

I think it's also too early to write off some of our early picks, particularly guys like Watts, Blease, Tapscott, Strauss, Cook etc. Of those 5 guys, 2 are KPF with light builds (and in Watt's case hadn't played even much TAC Cup before the draft) who are taking time to build an AFL body, but are both obviously skilled and talented. The other three, Strauss, Blease and Tapscott were all first round, or early second round (strauss) but all have been hit by injuries throughout their first few years. That basically means that physically they are a year behind every other draftee from their year. Gysberts has all the skills (and injuries to), but again needs to build an AFL body, but he could be a key for us as a taller mid (190cm) who can win his own ball and become like a pendlebury.

The reality is that every year there are players who fly under the radar only to develop into very good players (Rockliff was a rookie-draft pick - everyone missed on him in the NAB Draft). So, that's why i think it's the development side that is to blame.

I think we've drafted some very skilful players but looking through the list, we've probably picked more project players than other clubs, and also had more prospects get long-term injuries than most other clubs too. This has meant less game-time and less development. I seriously think that we're about 2 more years away from seeing this group come through and push us to finals contention. Hopefully with the improved funding in the footy department we won't have the development problems that we've had to date.

For me the impatience was after we started to bottom out from 2007 (14th) 2008 (16th) 2009 (16th) really thru to really 2009,,, 2010 (12th) 2011 (13th) ...

It took us 3 years to bottom out clearing the list & rebuilding it. Thats quick.

But it's left us with some players who we now need to be shocked back into reality.

I'd rather be where we are now, than being perpetually where we were thru the early part of this century, Up one year & down the next, with no Real talent, no Sam Michells, & the players becoming part of a 'Circus', putting on a show to entertain us, but had no real sustainability.

This is why we had to bottom out in the first place. We ran out of talent that we had from the late '90's,,

Keeping punters entertained while trying to rebuild every 2nd year is no good, & we didn't have any real leaders to put young guys right.

Now, we have talent on the list, but they haven't been taught to play tough & hard brand of footy....

Next year, 2013, I want to be our line in the sand year, as we'll have some more tough personnel, that were grooming, on top of Jones, Trengove, Tapscott, Jordie Mac, Grimes, +++ hopefully Viney, Taggert, Tynan, maybe Moloney if he hangs tough?

I think you can see there's some grunt coming through & some leadership coming through.

We need to get those, who Will pickup the Mantle, to show us,,, before we trade & clear the list of stale bottles on the wall.

Yes. In the absence of established senior players, we're going to have to wait till our current crop grow into the role. I think we'll start to see some improvement later this season - though it's going to be a fairly rough first half.

FWIW, it's great that we have all these "tough" games coming up. Raises the bar, shows the boys where they need to get to and what they need to be doing.

He can play, just can't get on the park at the moment. Good size, strength, kick and mark to make it as a mid. If the development argument is right and we have it right then he has every chance of making it.
