At least you realise people think you're an idiot.

Some people don't like to be woken up from their slumber. It's understandable.

Others, like you, prefer to remain sound asleep. Zzzzzzz

IMO this kid is going to be a rock at the heart of the Adelaide defense for the next 10 years.

Prendergast punted on Gysberts when we'd already taken two mids (Scully and Trengove) at 1 & 2.

A mistake in my opinion given our long term needs down back, and the obvious quality of Talia.

Have your say in the poll ...

Yes we should have( In hindsight) taken Talia.

But it should have been instead of Scully

You're in all sorts of unchartered territory for unbearable posters. In the 10 years or so I've been involved with this site I'm struggling to think of anyone more difficult to bear. And no, it's not because you're "right".

It's called hindsight you idiot, as he was drafted in 09. It would have been foresight if this thread was started at the time of the draft.

Look back through the annals, you will see I - as well as quite a few others on here - wanted us to draft Talia.

My April thread and the passage of time have only confirmed the prescience of that foresight.

Comprende ... [censored]?

Being right can be unpopular Nash. What to do.

And he's no longer around ... is he.

Doesn't this make your thread rather useless? If the recruiter was still around, then he would need to be held accountable. But he isn't. It's like complaining about the Howard or Bracks governments. The time has passed.

All i can say on this topic is that I have inside info. Ive heard from a family member who knows his family that his preferred destination at the time of the draft was MFC and he even told the club so.

I heard the same. Just unbelievable isn't it.

Right. So we have a duty to pick players who want to play for us, do we?

I'm glad our recruiters aren't picking players just because they tell us they want to play for us.

A player's desire to play for a given club isn't something that should be dismised out of hand. You want players who are committed to the cause.

More important though is having the good judgement and foresight (ooh there's that dirty word again) to pick a bloke who will play regular senior footy and play it damned well.

Not our recruiter's strong suit.

Why?

You are bleating on about how Talia wanted to play here, and thus we should have taken that into account.

Naitanui wanted to stay in Perth, but you don't seem to have cared about that one bit in all your whinging about that decision.

It's a factor to take into account, not the only factor.

Anyway, Talia went to Adelaide, won a rising star and seems happy there. No reason why NicNat couldn't have done the same at Melbourne.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
