Rock Bottom??

I can't agree with this at all.

IMO the 186 point loss was a positive. It caused the club to really focus on our list and our coaching department. Prior to this I think the MFC just assumed that success would follow our period of 'bottoming out'.

Some of the recent events are indeed unfortunate, but not indicia of a bad club or poor club culture IMO.

And, for mine, the period at the end of season 2011 was as exciting a period as I've ever experienced supporting this club. We secured Neeld. We then got Misson. We then nailed Craig. We then nabbed Clark.

Ridiculous momentum. Despite feeling really aggrieved about the state of our list, I think this club has finally turned the corner, and we will see a very different club in a few years from now. A successful club.

Ordinary thread.

More Id say that if you look at where we were 4 years ago versus now we arent any better off. if you look at the list of 2003 / 04 it looked a lot more positive in many ways.

I'l never be ashamed of this club. We have enough people from the outside trying to sink the boot in. I'll express my disdain for the way certain things transpire but I'll get over it within 24 hours because the sun always rises tomorrow and this club surives on support from people like demonlanders.

Fully agree.

yeah, l reckon we did a good job handling it al but l don't know how l'll be feeling after we come 13-14th this year

Colesy, you've written the list and yes it is a shocker. Have a good look at it, immerse yourself in it, then bury it. Put it behind you. From now we go forward. We will have some wins and the bonds at the club will be stengthened by all this.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Perhaps on field, but definitely not off the field. I no longer have the latent fear for our survival that I had back then (thanks Jim!). The administration is far more professional now, the facilities are good, the coaching staff is as good as any in the comp - in short, we're in a much better position now.

I also think Daniher had a shocker with our list at the end of 2002. We were very unlucky not to be in the preliminary final that year (with a depleted list), and then we let Woewodin and Powell go, and it took us ages to recover from that - 2003 was an awful season. I've also never really got over losing Thompson the next year - perhaps the only truly elite midfielder that we've had on our list in the last 15 years.

Just gotta work out how to pay for it all now .

Great.

I think losing to Brissy basically sums up where we are at.

Not sure why any of us would bag Brissy or Port - at least they pick the right kids.

Brissy started a long way back, losing Riska, Brennan and Fev and still they pump us.

Im a bit over it, I dont care if we win many this year, ill probably go watch Viney at Casey

for the majority of the year - at least he has a crack.

Hi,just joined demonland.

I've just donated $200.00 to the club as a show of support and solidarity.

It's been a tumultuous time lately.

It's still a long road .tunnel up ahead.

Well done. Best post of the thread......... Good stuff.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
