Hey guys/gals,

Long time reader and first time poster. I have a 1988 Grandfinal football signed by the Melbourne Football club and ALL it's players. Does anyone know what it would be worth? Not wanting to sell it but the question always gets me thinking!

Anyone seen anything like this go to Auction? It's got some of the greats on there including "Jimma".

Thanks for any input. Keep posting guys love your work.

Especially the training updates.

I try not to remember the '88 GF. It was most harrowing afternoon i think i have ever had. I had to sit with 3 Hawthorn supporters for the entire game. I was not able to leave!

I will get payback one day, but '88 was horrific!!!

I've got no idea but personally I wouldn't understand who would pay big bucks for the losing team, but you never know. That said its a nice thing to have. Any idea how many were produced?

Best chance of finding a price if you don't get one on here might be calling up SEN when they have Mario from Gardenvale Collectables on, or dropping into his shop or a similar one.

Yes totally agree. But the names on the ball are some of the greats. Definitely my favorite artifact that I possess.

Worst afternoon in my memory. $350 for a ticket, wet to the bone and team being thrashed :-(

Yeah it was. Equally with the '87 prelim. I didn't think that feeling was possible, to have it twice.

I know exactly how you feel wyl. I generally hate streakers as a matter of principle, but the intruder on that day at least took our attention away from the main game, albeit briefly.

The Hawks supporters i was with were SO arrogant that day. What could i say???

I was stoked they lost that Prelim last year. They now fully understand the Gut Wrenching pain we felt in '87-'88, even if only a taste.

I'd keep it until we win our next flag. Then you can cash in on all the fuzziness. In the meantime put in mothballs. It might need them.

Hold onto it. Then get all the players from '88 back together to sign a second one as a celebration when the Demon's finally break through.

Edit: Oops, sorry Jackie basically repeating. Nods to first in.

Yeah, I was watching the game when a young lass walked past where I was sitting and went to the boundary fence. I didn't take much notice of her untill a flurry of activity where all her clothes fell off then over the fence and off

Kind of like "and now for something completely different!"

Went to the '88 GF at 7am .I remember the cheer squad were passing around plastic ponchos or raincoats .That was a real highlight of the day .

Then it got bad. From memory we had a good team in the reserves who got thumped as well ( I may be wrong). After the first bounce I find anything hard to recall-my mind has kind of blacked it all out .It's too painful to go back to that day .Can we never mention it again please?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
