He looked at the umpire, then Riewoldt and finally to MacDonald. Calmly then threw the ball to the wrong guy. Our best chance in years to win a game against quality Vic opposition on away territory turned into dust. A win here might have set up our season after weeks of turbulence. Instead it was the beginning of gloom and fatalistic despair for us culminating in 186.

Wow. Thats the first time I have seen Davey's 50 metre penalty in another game be the catalyst for 186. Brilliant.

I was just hoping we are not going to see an "I believe in Aaron" campaign.

Or even worse agendas that deem to write off an MFC player without a scintilla of substance.

So far IMO there has been no indication of him remotely embracing any personal challenge to uplift himself other than doing what he he's got to do to continue collecting his fat salary.

You won't get much of an indication from October through to February in the off-season. Only from occassional semi-biased reports.

I believe in him.

Maybe we should start one?

It is up to him to provide the substance that only the money we pay him can buy. Not a scintilla for the past year and by all reports we are still waiting.

Go ahead, good for light entertainment. Do you think he will appreciate it?

Bad years is what most others players had. His was a disgrace.

Right and he still has the opportunity to do so this year. Unless you have another substance in mind

And from all reports you have no basis to determine whether he will or not. And I am glad you are waiting....season has not started yet.

Quite. He did not play the day at Skilled Stadium but make no mistake he was the catalyst for 186.

Appreciation is difficult to get and easy to lose.

Davey has lost a great deal of it in one year...

Why can't we hope he gets it back?

As you said it is difficult to get. Perhaps harder the second time around. Factoring in age, injury, diminishing speed and skills, and attitude that has been NQR for the past year and it will be harder still. He will have to do a Lazarus. Slim chance.

Not sure there is anyone who does not want him to be back to his best rpfc.

I for one think we need his accurate kicking.

When is on song there is no finer kick in the side.

Rarely wastes a kick.

I just have big doubts!!!!

Side-lined leadership is fine. Bit if you were trying to get in the ones and had been told you had missed out as there was a player who had been picked instead because of his Leadershop qualities you would accept it graciously only if it was fine-line on ability and skill.

If it was more clear cut that you had better form, how would you feel?

Because you couldnt complain else people may reflect you did not possess "leadership skills"...

This very thing may occur in our half back line before we get very far into the season.

Feel free to correct me if I am worng Franky, but I was talking about not being picked for the LG (Beamer, Davey, Rivers, Green), not about whether a player is picked to play in a game. I do agree with what you have to say though.

Never mind missing out on leadership group. 2 senior Melb players (not Green) yet to prove worthy of a game. Coaching staff unimpressed.

Make of it whoever you think the "2" are.....

I'm sorry if I have ruined a page of speculation regarding who the 2 players are, but that is a fake Mike Sheahan account - just somebody taking the [censored]!

It would be nice to have an updated Demonland banner that included Grimes.

Having the captains as bookends of the playing group would work well. Either by tacking Grimes on to the end or replacing Moloney (no disrespect to Brent).

I'd have a go at doing it myself however Wild Turkey is currently impairing my ability to photoshop.

It works on so many levels, especially because we have so many panic merchants on this site!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
