Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Hang on boys how about we give the new coaching panel a go before we write the season off already... I reckon there are a lot of things to get excited about

I doubt anyone is writing off 2012 Bossdog.

In my case I believe a number of our players are yet to prove they are the goods.

Reputation means bugger all when the game starts.

Lets see how good they are in 2012 as you say "under a new set of conditions"

This is why 2012 will be exciting. At least up until the first game

Green and Davey spring to mind,

3 on the list? keep them coming, becasue im under the impression that people think we dont have the cattle to play finals but IMO we've got a good bunch of young blokes coming through who will hit their strapps in the next couple of years.

The young guys are the ones I was refering to DWA.

We have lots of low draft picks that have to justify their selection.

The next couple of seasons will prove if they are the goods or not.

Name names old dee. Which ones arent up to it?

IMO the vast majority of these young fellas can play, and if they had been drafted by a top four club would look even better than they do playing for us, where they have been playing along side a team made up predominantly of other young fellas.

I don't know which ones are not up to it.

That is what we have to find out.

For me they are just kids who have yet to justify their reputations.

I agree with you we have had no one to carry the load while they develop.

I said on a number of occasions last year my fear is who is going to carry the load while the kids develop.

The Names are easy to identify, these players need to continue there improvement and start to show on a continued basis why they were early picks.

Watts showed a bit this year but still needs to show us he can play as a tall forward, has yet to kick over 3 goals in a game and I think only twice he has kicked 3

Morton he was an exciting junior, his last 2 years he played like he was a rookie listed player rather than a top 5 pick

Blease injury aside showed some signs last year but he needs to claim his spot

Strauss see Blease

Grimes get your body right and stay on the field

Tapscott see Grimes

Gysberts see Tapscott

Thats 7 players that have showed us potential, we need in 2012 to take big steps, play good consistant footy all are in their 3-5th AFL pre-season, these guys should be our cream and this is where our improvement needs to come from.

I'm worried about all except Watts, he will be a good AFL footballer, just what position he plays is the question.

Except Blease which was an unfortunate accident, the others just can't keep fit. Even Morton everytime he starts to play with confidence he has some injury that sets him back.

On Blease I hope he can learn to work both ways, great quick on the attack but even at training he looks slow chasing. Hopefully this is a recovery thing that will be improved with more training.

Agree dd I have a similiar opinion.

Blease is a good example, he was a good junior

Has played a couple of games and showed some promise however he caught those side napping.

It will not happen in 2012 he will get a lot more attention from the other team.

Then we will see if he can cut the Mustard.

Interesting times ahead

and yet with all this with 4 games to go in the season we where a chance to make the 8.

Playing finals gives me no jollies, but yes, it's a prerequisite and a building block for the only thing that matters.

Half the competition and some very ordinary teams play finals every year.

Totally agree OD

Last year was totally abyssmal.

With Neelds Clean slate, players will have to earn a game. Not just be given a game to put games into young bodies.

So a lot of these young AFL princess wannabes at the club who think they are the cream of the crop. Just suck it up and show us exactly what you are made of.

Short of finishing in the 8 anything else is unacceptable. If this is the case then Neeld & co. will have had a look at the team for a year, and then start to clear out the dead wood.

I agree. Just plug em in and play. Its does not matter how young they are. If they can get a licence and vote at 18 then they should be dominanting at AFL and that goes for bigger players as well.

Anything less than top 4 wont be acceptable.

Back on Earth, there were a number of reasons for our abysmal year some we could control, many we couldnt control. Young player list that rivalled GC without the bona fide star. Crippling injuries, outrageous tribunal decisions and the destabilisation of the Scully saga. Not to mention the even more abysmal off field shenanigans which the MFC Board and management participated in.

Too many people are prepared to cherry pick issues without looking at the quantum. And FWIW, I dont expect the team to make the 8 given there will be adjustment to Neeld's plan and philosophy. If his game plan is that much different to the prior year its naive to think it will be learned and properly implemented just over the summer. There have been enough recent examples to show that may not necessarily be the case.

For me they are just kids who have yet to justify their reputations.

Reputations??? The only ones are what exist here. And they are often overblown to suit posters esxpectations that they will dominate in the 1st or 2nd year. As you point they are kids and there is a lack of senior players to support. MFC have said players need to get at least 50 games into them to have the maturity to stand up. With ready made players like Clark and the list (most of it) being a year older, I look forward to the improvement.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
