He shouldn't have a personal fitness coach. Nothing wrong with getting someone to help you out after the season finishes and before Misson and co sent out programs, but now we are in full swing everything should be organised by Misson.

There is such a thing as over training and doing unauthorized sessions is a risk for this. The interesting thing for Morton is how do you balance bulk against endurance. Personally I don't think he plays like a big man so I'd only want to put maximum 5 or so kg's on to give him protection and some power and keep him as a running player with extra height. He's an interesting player for the fitness guys to deal with.

I'd find it hard to believe this wouldn't be approved by Misson first.

And who's to say with a bit more bulk Morton's game style wouldn't change?

His style is largely predicated by his light frame.

If he had Jobe Watson's build, he'd go in for a lot more hard footy and contested marks.

Bear in mind that pretty well every time Cale has gone in hard it's turned out badly. Even discounting the fact that when he finally committed his body and went back into a pack he missed half a season, his first game this year saw him go in hard for a ball and get pinged for a non-existent free kick. It must be hard to get yourself up for that sort of thing when you've had so many negative results from doing so.

If you were talking about little league you might be making sense..................

Wow, there's a lot of bad tattoos in that group.

For what it's worth, I don't think there's any such thing as a good tattoo.

Reminds me of a report I received in a previous life where I was advised that a particular individual should not be allowed to do something because he was "involved in a bad murder". I often wonder how that differs from a good murder.

Interesting to read the negative sentiment to Cale working on a fairly obvious problem he has had for years.

FWIW - Stef Martin's flatmate (until last month) was telling me that he had to take it upon himself to seek help outside the club to develop his body. One presumes the club has input on this, but it's obviously not done Stef any harm and I would welcome similar physical developments in Cale (not suggesting he is capable of bulking up to the same size, nor that he needs to).

Please stick to footy guys. If you want to discuss other non footy matters there is the General Board.

Thanks

Getting back on track and still talking about tattoos, I note that someone has likened one of our new draftees to Dustin Martin. I hope our newbie plays like him, but doesn't disfigure his body in the same way.

Ricky Bobby has some nice ink work - obviously done by a great artist.

Jonesy wants another sleeve - but had to put it off due to our pre-season training having a lot of swimming.

(obviously effects the healing and quality, etc.)

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
