Is this a case of the AFL making something out of nothing?

I would have thought us playing the Dockers would have been more of a grudge match.

Can someone please explain how this was a grudge match...when Brisbane gladly worked with us for the trade so they could give it to Freo......Freo v Bris would be a grudge match not us v Bris....

its called a "beat up"

Definitely not a grudge match, if anything the Lions should be thanking us for getting in on the party! Clark was always going, Fremantle, West Coast, or Melbourne it didn't matter.

I'm just glad it's a home match, and a bloody good chance to get the year off to a good start.

Im glad we are playing them in round 1 when we will get a good crowd because its the first game and everyone will want to see our new game style and new players.

Its better to play them at the G in round 1 then round 18 in case we arent going so well.

I wonder when we will play GWS? It better be at the G.

What a joke. But hey at least it's a home game we can win.

with respect... we ought to have the attitude that any game, is a game we can win ;)

For me, it's a match between two clubs who are more than happy to work together towards a common goal. Hardly a grudge match at all. The AFL is so dum (yes, that's right - D U M) sometimes.

More of a grudge match for Clark and his ex-teammates, as he left the lions to go home. The fact he didn't end up back in Perth might have left his old team feeling a bit dirty on the situation.

Either way, if you wanna be opening the season with a blockbuster, the runs have got to be put on the board.

My priorities would be

(1) open with a win

(2) open with a home game

(3) open with a blockbuster

Melb v GWS is a grudge match!

Round 2 at Rooty Hill, No source just gut fealing. The Sydney game is for hype but the AFL won't expose GWS to any of the top 6 till mid year. They will get us, Richmond, Port and Gold Coast, Brisbane with in the first 6-7 games.

Indeed - our relationship with Brisbane seemed to be all hugs and back slaps afterwards. Hardly looked grudge-y to me.

Los Pollos is down a manager after he had half his face blown off.. HOW AWESOME WAS THAT???!!!!! :)

Was intending to watch that episode this weekend. Cheers for that.

Actually it is a grudge match, Brisbane and Voss treated us with disdain and beat up on us so many times I just love to return the favour.

Nothing better than watching our Backs kill Brown and Fev a couple of years ago.

What odds $cully pulls a 'knee soreness' heart string and opts out of playing against us?

Odds on Yoda...he couldn't even face the club to say goodbye....

You think we have a bigger grudge with Freo at the moment than St Kilda?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
