Listening to a trade talk show on SEN. Unsure who these two are that are hosting. They've talked plenty of the Clark deal, all positive. Are now talking us up as a strong chance to take Mcaffer from the pies as a small strong forward.

He is in the Petterd, Howe, Green mould and I can't see where he would fit in. Has had injury problems as well. He is smaller then their mid McCarthy and has a worse goal/game average.

I haven't seen too much of MacAffer to have an opinion on his fit for MFC, but from what i have seen he isnt much of a small forward?

Isn't he of a similar build to a guy like Dunn?

The big difference between him and our smaller forwards is that he can play to team disciple.

As in chasing, tackling, doing what he is told etc. Does anyone on our forward line do that?

Exactly, Mcaffer tore up plenty of games for the Pies, and played very well in one of the Grand Finals last year as well. In saying that, our Forward line is turning into a strength, and if we picked him up whos position would he take? Howe, Green, Jurrah? I think we have a surplus in these sorts of players.

Krakouer was preferred in 2011 but this guy played some very good footy at times in 2010. Has a strong work ethic and was one of Malthouse's favourites there for a while.

Too easily dismissed I think.

Speaking of him, Ricky is one guy that needs a serious whisper in his ear. Sometimes he looks like he will be the next Steve Johnson. But most of the time he just sooks on the field doing SFA.

How many players on our current list have finals experience? Or are used to being a part of a well oiled machine? I think he would be a great addition and much better than Dunn

Question whether McCaffer would've looked so good in an average team last year.

Not every player at Collingwood is better than our equivalent options - some of our forwards would've looked like superstars at the Pies over the last couple of years.

Some of those infrequent "own the forward line" cameo appearances Ricky has put in would certainly put him in the SJ class if he did it consistently. Similar impact, different styles and application.

So when Petterd is good he's good, and when Steve Johnson is good he's also good.
