The Josh Caddy Thread

On AFL Facebook updates:

Essendon CEO Ian Robson & Recruitment manager Adrian Dodoro have walked out of the mediation with Gold Coast into the media room. Are they about to sign off the deal for Josh Caddy? Or are they going to be saying how disappointed they are that they couldn't land him at Essendon?

GC apparently onl;y want to take 1 pick in this year's draft, they just did this trade:

1.13pm - Geelong has swapped their first round pick 26 for Gold Coast's picks 32 and 34.

Dont' expect GC to have much interest in Essendon's pick 18 - our compo pick is of more interest. There's no point in bundling 36 or 39 from Bate - they just traded away 32 and 34 presumably because they won't use them

I thought you have to use a minimum of 3 selections in the ND or is it just turn over 3 players?

Watching for Caddy related news in #tradeweek on Twitter is like watching the closing minutes of an Ebay auction... come to think of it, maybe next year the AFL could set up an Ebay store where these trades can be conducted.

According to Barrett, Hooker and Gumbleton were thrown up by Essendon plus draft pick for Caddy but were of no interest to GC.

Gumbleton's stocks have massively nosedived. Big fail for Bombers on that No.2 draft pick.

Just a thought, i never heard it reported if we walked out at the same time?

Yeah, I couldn't find where I heard or read that - and I've clearly got it wrong - looks like they want 2 picks at least but seem to have traded all their later picks away:

1.41pm - Adelaide has received picks 27, 31 and 68 from Gold Coast for pick 24. The Suns look keen to have fewer, better draft picks, having now exchanged five picks (27,31,32, 34 and 68) for picks 24 and 26 in the past hour.

If that's the case you would think our compo pick for next year would be very attractive to them with a player or two. 5 minutes to go looks like we missed him.

Caddy and many of his GC colleagues will be OOC at the end of next year. We've still got the 2 x 1st round compo picks.

Indeed. Essendon being too tightarsed could work in our favour - we're in the box seat if he still wants to go next year. I'm loving this business of cleaning up because of other clubs' poor strategies.

It's a great sign alone that Caddy wanted to come home. Expect he won't be the only one by the end of next year and we'll be in the box seat!

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
